Re: General Gaming Discussion

I would probably buy games if the prices were somewhat reasonable, but they are outrageously expensive and I'm not a rich dude.

Nah my dad's mate did it, but I'd know how too.

Google xbox360iso, has tutorials on how to do it, quite simple tbh.

This will change when everything goes online in a few years. It will cut out a shit ton of costs for the companies and they will be able to give it to us cheaper. Or, they change the model and keep it the same to fuck us but I don't think the gaming community as a whole would stand for that.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I have always been like that. I think it is OCD related on my end, of which I have many.

I'm so bad that I have a hard time buying a game used and not factory sealed. That can be somewhat costly at times.

When I'm sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead

Same here. I only buy a game used if it's out of print (like Metroid Prime Trilogy) and EXTREMELY hard to track down online for a good price new.

I dread an all online/DD future. If a physical media option existed alongside DD, I wouldn't give a shit. I'm not interested in downloading 8-10 GB of data on my connection speed. I'm not interested in always being online either. The online infrastructure, bandwidth limits, and connection speeds in most parts of the world are not enough as well. Don't get me started on cloud gaming either.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Physical copies of things are now starting to be a thing of the past, as it should be. They can save a shit ton of resources not having to package games and make booklets for them, etc etc. I've just accepted that within probably 3 years I will have go online for my gaming.

Cloud gaming is going to be a complete clusterfuck until they master it. The cloud idea in general is going to cause a shit ton of problems at first.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I personally do not think it should be that way, but it probably will be. Books are giving way to devices like Kindle. Music CDs have already died, with iTunes and services like that paving the way for digital music. Blu-Ray and DVDs are still selling, but not as much as before. I'm going to resist it for as long as I can when it comes to games, which is why I don't bother buying digital releases of games that are in retail. I prefer tangible media. That's just how I am. Even if the manuals and cover art go away, I still prefer something physical.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Yeah, but it takes a lot of resources to give you that case and the book and honestly, it's not needed and wasteful. I know the collector in you wants these things, but from a resources standpoint it makes absolute sense to cut these things out.

I was like that myself a few years ago I absolutely refused to buy used games after some experiences with used PS2/GC games, but one I desperately needed some new games for my PS3,so I said fuck it & bought a shit ton of used games & have been ever since then.

It doesn't take long for most games to drop in price though, unless you're called Call of Duty. Most games are at 40 (RRP is 50 but only stupid non-game speciality shops charge that much), but with a bit of searching I find someone that sells it for 30/35 at release. Then with some big releases over here, such as FIFA, you get the retailers being very competitive and putting the price down to 20 within just a couple of weeks of the release. I haven't paid full whack for a game on release since Metal Gear Solid 4.
