It is rather sad as the majority of my favourite games in history are single player.

Exclusively starting the downfall? That is a ridiculous statement. Yes, Halo 1 started a big 'multiplayer party' trend and it was the first major console hit that made gaming Online on a console what it is, but MMORPGS and many, many other computer games revolutionized the 'idea'.

Worlds of Warcraft is probably the most played Online game and that even had precedents. I was playing EverQuest in 1999 with over 50 people on my team, or if you know EQ, on a raid with my guild.

But I agree with the thought of single player games going instinct; it sickens me.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I only play single player.. I play multiplayer on football games and sometimes on a shooter thats it but I hope single player is not on the way out. The best games are single player and multiplayer never connects me to a game or immerses me in a world as a single player game.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I hardly play multi-player on PS3 where most of my games are but I enjoy multi-player on the XBox, that said I'm a single player kind of guy, I enjoy being able to sit down and enjoy the story, the character's, the levels, the bosses and everything about a campaign.

If single player died off, I'd probably just stop playing video games or stick with what I have now.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

There was a developer (forgot who) that stated that all games in the future should be "always online" and have a multiplayer element attached. I'd never want to be part of that developer's future, tbh.

Has anyone played inFamous 2 yet? I was finally able to get a copy & i'm waiting for it to arrive at my house. I mainly bought the game because the DLC actually looks appealing, especially the vampire themed one.

Jeez. That's fucking ridiculous. Not everybody has Live/PSN (or internet for that matter).

I enjoy online gaming, I must admit. I like being social, and it's fun to turn on a game like Reach and party up with random people and just talk shit with them. It's fun. I play online when I'm lazy and don't feel like getting immersed fully into a game.

Then there are times that all you want to do is play a game with an epic campaign.

Beat it twice on both difficulties. Final bosses were far too easy, and not enough bosses in general. Still really fun though, not a challenge at all but neither was the first one,

Anyone else getting NHL12? Judging from the demo it will be easier to score, bigger hits, and harder to deke. They got some good new features as well.

That sounds terrible but honestly eventually that's how it's going to be. I've accepted that probably within a year and a half I'll have to get online and the only positive to that is that I can plow my way through years of games I've missed from XBLA.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Deus Ex: Human Revolution or God of War Origins Collection? Both are at very similar prices at the moment in the UK and are probably around the same length. I've completed all of the previous God of War games and I haven't played a Deus Ex game before so I'm really not sure what to get. I'm probably going to get both down the line anyway but I'd like to see some opinions on which is the better game. (I know Origins isn't out yet)

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Deus Ex, no question. Stay away from the GOW Collection, they are all the same simplistic shit.
