Re: General Gaming Discussion

I've been playing a lot of Shogun 2 on the PC. I'd love it if they brought it to xbox.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I'm a big fan of the Total War series. Used to play a lot of Rome back when it first game out. When I bought my new PC a few months back that was one of the first games that I bought off Steam, I just love it. Also have Medieval II, plus I want to pick up the others like Empire and Shogun. Heard they are doing another Rome, which would be great if true.

As for bringing it to Xbox, I doubt it. You already need a good gaming rig to even play them. So I don't think they'll even fit on the discs. Plus RTSs hardly ever work on consoles.

People like you are why single player games are starting to slowly disappear.

Yeah, you can thank Halo almost exclusively for starting the slow downfall of the single player game. It drives me insane.

Well, you're certainly contributing to bullshit like UbiSoft's always-on DRM, which is just as bad.

I really don't agree with that. Mainly because I enjoyed the single player quite a bit, thought it was very strong. I really thought it had an engaging story, especially number 2 that dealt with religion and the false prophecies that they tell. I really loved the Arbiter's story much more than Chief's.

Plus the multiplayer was very good which doesn't happen very often in games that feature them. Which is what I think is wrong. Most games now that have multiplayer in them are just ones that tack them on at the end of production, like it's an after thought. They never fully develop them, like Halo, CoD, Gears etc. do. They just think well if we put this in then people will definitely buy it. Without thinking whether it'll be good or not, or if people will be bothered to play it.

Like The Darkness, Prey, Crysis 2, Stranglehold, Bioshock 2 etc..

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Halo really kicked off the online boom though, in my opinion. COD kinda took over but to me games started to decline after Halo 2, from a solo player perspective. And it's never going to change and I'm in the minority, which is unfortunate for me. I've tried playing online and I just don't see the appeal of it and sadly we're in a time where online multi-player is everyone's focus because that's where the money is.

It just makes me appreciate games like Mass Effect 2 and Deus Ex even more. When games like those come out, it's honestly like coming up for air when you were drowning in the ocean, from a gaming point of view. Honestly, to me there are only like 3-4 really good games that come out every year and everything else is either average or shit. And I blame online for it entirely because it made companies stop trying.

Oh yeah, I'm not denying that. They were the flag ship game back when the Xbox first appeared and they pretty much made online gaming great for the consoles, just like Microsoft did with Live. I just feel that Halo is one of those games that got the balance between Multiplayer and Singleplayer right.

Where as other companies see it as a means to make money and just add it on without giving any real thought to it, and it just turns out bad, really bad. That's why many games, I feel, fail in the singleplayer aspects, because to many now concentrate on the multiplayer when it's not even needed which is why I mentioned same of the games above, obviously there are more.

It's like that guy from Rocksteady said, he wants the whole team to concentrate on the single player to make it as great as possible.
