Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

I'm not a MASSIVE fan, but I certainly enjoyed it. I dont think it would be rated as high as if it sold well imo.

And yes, aLttP is the best Zelda game.

I think i'm the only person who can't get into Ocarina of Time. Seriously I just can't.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

Neither could I. It was good, but very overrated, it looked very bland and I found myself bored at times.

I thought Majora's Mask was better was far better. Hell, I liked Minish Cap more that OoT.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

I think my problem is that I played it after I started playing Wind Waker etc where the then (in '97) revolutionary Zelda in 3D aspect was cleaned up and I feel plays a lot better.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

For the most part, I thought Wind Waker was great.

I loved the art and it was enthralling... Up until you had to find those Triforce shards. Probably the biggest mistake that game made was adding a huge fetch quest that takes up a quater of the total game time.

In fact, the whole sailing thing was pretty tedious imo. I hated it in Phantom Hourglass.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

Link to the Past just shades Ocarina for my money. Wind Waker had too much wasted time in it for my liking and I never really got into Majora's Mask to be fair. I'm quite ashamed to say I haven't played Twilight Princess, so can't really judge that.

You really have to dedicate a good 5/6 hours to any Zelda game to truly judge it's worth.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

For those that like old dos games, I've enjoyed using "dosbox" which allows you to run them on your modern PC.

Also, for arcade games, use the emulater "Mame" and you can run all the old wrestling arcade games as well as classics like simpsons, tmnt, goldenaxe etc all very cool even for today.

This. I still feel OoT is a damn good game but it seems stuck in the 90's with a few fundamental flaws but it still is in an enthralling adventure.

I quite liked sailing, at first anyway. I just watch TV whilst I go sailing across the map but it helps getting the Ballad of Gales as sailing is tedious. The art style is absolutely terrific but the flow of the story absolutely killed the game stone dead at times. The game keeps teasing you with Gannondorf but oh no we had to go back to Forsaken Fortress- there he is- nope lets go to the temples. The temples need items to get in to so it took ages to find them and that bloody Medli doesn't follow you properly and finally the feckin' shards. I must say, though, it did a good job of building up the final boss with all of these freaking diversions.

Hopefully I am getting Twilight Princess for £10 off of my mate on Gamecube but I think he may have it mixed up with the Zelda 4 pack which includes the NES Zelda, OoT and Majora's Mask. I have OoT but would the other 3 games make up for that price?

I hate Majora's Mask. Bugged the shit out of me and I was disappointed as hell considering Ocarina of Time was my favourite game (Melee hadn't come out).

I'll admit I loved getting onto each island and finding what was lurking around on there, but the damn sailing and looking for those stupid pieces was hell. Fantastic game otherwise, pretty much perfect without that part.

I've actually had Phantom Hourglass for months, but I haven't in so long because of that bloody temple place you have to do with the time limit like 8 times

I'd actually put this above every Zelda game (that I've played) but Ocarina. No wasted time and the whole thing was exciting.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

I have been playing some Spiderman & Venom: Maximum Carnage on the Super Nintendo lately.

Man, what a game. I remember opening the box and seeing the red cartridge and absolutely going ballistic.

My cousins and I had to have spent over 200 hours playing this at our grandmother's.
