Well its all down to interpretation at the end of the day. My favorite game on the genesis was Strider, and that imo is the only game that has ever come close to Super Metroid. Maybe Chakhan

Yea, I'm gonna pick it up. My Wii has been dormant latley haven't bought a new game in a few months, and honestly this is the first thing that has caught my interest on that system in awhile.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

In terms of SNES vs Megadrive (it was called Megadrive, here), I always thought SNES had the edge, especially in terms of graphics. But that didn't mean the Megadrive was lacking - I for some reason enjoyed Megadrive games more then SNES games. I have fond memories of Skitchin', Streets of Rage 2 & 3, Splatterhouse, Lotus, as well as many others.

I'm glad that people still remember - and play - retro games, because while present day games are great, many of them have lost that X factor that was to be found in games released for NES, Master System, SNES or Megadrive.

And then there's my personal favourite - the Amiga 500 computer! Thousands of awesome and original games, beautiful graphics, great sounds. It was truly ahead of its time. I still play with my old Amiga to this day!

Very unfair comparison though. M.U.S.H.A was awsome nonetheless, one of my favorite genesis games.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

Got to play Sonic CD again through an emulator and I totally dig it. Probably the best one next to Sonic 2.

Speaking of Sonic 2, I found some interesting beta versions that show some differences and unused levels that weren't in the final version.

I also found some fan made versions that attempted to create full versions of these levels such as Wood Zone, and Hidden Palace in addition to the main game. They're actually pretty good and when played all together are better than the original Sonic 2.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

Sonic CD is the best sonic easily. Shame every other game on that abomination was woeful.

Sonic 2 is the second best.

Re: Retro Gaming Discussion

I actually enjoyed Sonic 3 more than Sonic 2. Might've been because Sonic 3 was like the most popular game in my neighborhood at the time. I remember being all OMGUGOTSONIC3~! around that time.
