Yeah, it was short, and it was way too easy, in my opinion. I played it on Very Hard, and breezed through it in about 8 hours.

It is. I played it on the highest difficulty and beat it in about 4 and a half hours. Shitty thing is, there is a really good game in there but it never comes close to reaching it's potential. But yeah, it's a really shitty game.

Finished Red Dead last night. Thought it was a good game, but certainly not worth Game of the Year. I've got no motivation to go through and do side missions and shit, either. And, why does the grown-up Jack look like Escuela? At the end, I was just wondering what was going on, because I thought Escuela killed John's wife or some shit and you continued on as him. Then I remembered I killed him, lol.

Red Dead is GOTY in my opinion. The setting, mood, characters and fun factor is just huge. I enjoyed it so much that I got 100% on the game and expansion. It's everything GTA IV should have been.
I agree, to an extent. I think everyone has the potential to appreciate more demanding games. Whether they choose to do so is completely up to them. Most people will buy games like FIFA, COD and (I hate to say this) Mario simply because those are the games they've heard about and know they enjoy. That's fine, that's just how casual gamers work.
Many of these people aren't "simple" or average, they just have other things in their life that matter more to them. But, I also believe you're right in thinking that shooters appeal to the "simple kind". Just listen in on a lobby of SOCOM or Black Ops.
Anyway, please don't classify Battlefield as a brainless shooter. It's not.

Going back to the ranch just killed everything for me. Going from all of the action and everything and to have it just stop and go back to herding cows and shit was just horrible. I didn't like any of the characters there, either. Uncle and John's wife were stupid, and Jack just annoyed me. I started to resent John for how badly he treated Uncle, too. I lost interest there, but finished it anyway.

Once I got back to the ranch I stopped playing. I didn't care enough to finish it. Ugh.

Played Blood Will Tell on my PS2 for a bit. I don't know if anyone's ever played it but the concept is pretty cool. The main character loses all of the limbs inside his body and it's your job to defeat different bosses to get them back and regain abilities such as color vision. It's a bit of a hack and slash but I love it. Played it so much around 5 years ago.
