Re: General Gaming Discussion

So right now I have Red Dead Redemption and Mafia II (both PS3) out from GameFly. I'm gonna buy Mafia II and send RDR back on Monday. Not sure what I should get, though. I'm keeping one spot open for SVR, obviously. What should I get in the other spot? I'm considering AAA until Assassin's Creed Brotherhood comes out. I'm in no real rush to play Saw II or Fallout: New Vegas. I'll play them both eventually, but I could wait a month or two.

Anyway, any suggestions?

Re: General Gaming Discussion

No suggestions, but I do have a question: Why buy Mafia 2? On the hardest difficulty level it took me just under 8 hours to beat and you spend easily 50% of your time driving around. It was a pretty big disappointment to me and a lot of other people as well. I mean if you love it then by all means buy it, I just don't see any reason whatsoever to buy it full price.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I'd actually be getting it for $31.49, which at that price is a great deal, IMO. And the PS3 version has the DLC pack "The Betrayal of Jimmy" free if you buy it new with a code being printed on the back of the manual. So, it's kind of like getting the game for $21.49.

Plus, yeah, I love the game, and can definitely see me playing it a few times, although as you said, the hardest difficulty isn't very hard.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I liked Oblivion, but i do have to agree the plane of oblivion itself sucked ass.Closing off those damn gates was irritating as hell.As for a comparison to dragon age, I'd say the latter is superior is every sense of the word. Its not just your character, its a whole group you are controlling. The dialogue is done much better, and the combat is done much better.Really, the only thing i was disappointed with in Dragon Age was the class specializations for the mages. With the exception of spirit healer, which is only useful for a full-out healing mage, the specializations sucked ass.Being able to layer spells to form awesome spell combos (storm of the century ftw!) was one of my favorite parts.Add to that an awesome cast of characters and the ability to directly influence the story and you have a recipe for greatness.
As for Mass Effect being better, i have to whole-heartedly disagree with that assessment.ME1 was a third-person shooter with light RPG elements that i didnt think was RPG enough, and then they go anddumb it down even further for the 2nd one.Thats really the only thing that scares me about DA2, the fact that Bioware seems to be trying to make it into more Dragon Effect.I'll still pick it up, but that doesnt make me any less worried about it.

Fable 1 - amazing (although i doubt its aged well)
Fable 2 - I hate it but in general it's average. In fact I wouldn't call it a sequel more an upgrade of the first game. It basically is the same game except slight exceptions in the story. What pisses me off the most is that all the key events that happen in the first game are in the second. In the first game the hero fights to try and become the arena champion and it's epic! In the second same thing without the epicness because of the fimilarity.
Fable 3 - ???

So would Fable 3 be a good first Fable game,or should i play a previous game first?

I forgot to mention that i beat Dead Space last night, the last couple of chapters had a shit load of mind fucks

Spoiler for Chapters 10-12:

I have to agree with your points about the Oblivion gates and all of the Mage specialties sucking in Dragon Age aside from SH.

Ahh Mass Effect was different eh? Oh well.
