So I started unemployed and got a job at Welling United. Scraped promotion out of the Conference South in my first season through the play-offs with some really patchy form. Picked up a few key frees near the end of the season that made my midfield immense. Ten games to go in my second season and the Conference is dead easy. The squad was a little thin at the start of the season, but it's really easy to pick up players who are far too good for the level after a while for a reasonable price. Danny Webber (for all you United fans), who I've had since the start, averages just under a goal a game and is bossing it.
I'd imagine next season will be tough. The most I pay currently is 300 quid a week, so League Two will be a big step up when trying to get players in. Hoping to get some more decent quality on frees from Wales, Ireland, and smaller EU countries who have clubless players at international U21 level. Plus I'm not yet a full-time professional club, so idk what that adjustment will be like. On the plus side, the no debt at the end of next season, and the club is profiting each month. Hopefully an FA Trophy win gets me in the black.
