Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

Just won the Euro cup with Rangers in my last season after taking them from div 3 to spl winning the spl 3 times in 4 years. I have moved on to sevilla but that Rangers Euro cup win was one of my best achievements in the game beating teams like Chelsea, Parma and tottenham on the way. Anyone else done things similar

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

Finally got a game going I enjoy. I almost thought FM13 was a total waste of money. However, is it just me or does the opponent still score a lot of goals via crosses? Or just in general they score because your defender refuses to close down and just lets the opponent run on.

James Rodriguez, Eric Lamela, Wellington Nem, Neymar, Hazard, Bale...

Bale or Lamela are awesome.

Most of my conceded goals seem to come from when I'm hammering them by a good few goals and out of nowhere they'll have a random attack that'll lead to a goal.

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

Coming up to the 2039-2040 season and I am looking to start getting my team completely full of British players. I have actually just sold two of my starting full backs, one for £35,000,000 to Manchester City and the other for £46,500,000 to Real Madrid. Got two superb English replacements though, both almost 10 years younger too, love the fact that one is a young English right back who come through the ranks.

I have basically made £174,000,000 in the summer in selling deadwood and players who are ageing and when there stats are starting to decrease. In all honest I probably could have got a good few years out of the full backs I sold but it's hard to judge when to sell them for the majority of money. If I kept them another year, who knows if I could have got the same amount.

I'll now have an all English back four with good English depth to cover too. An English box to box midfielder who came through the ranks. An English left winger who also come through the ranks and an English striker who came through the ranks. There is a real lack of quality from the English youth set up around the country so it's tricky in nicking from other clubs at the moment, but I am happy with what I have.

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

he's a friendly fm hint

whatever you do, do not pick inter. they are absolutely shocking.

i tried so many different tactics. 1 up front, 2 up front, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1, 4-3-1-2, none of them work. the players just don't work. either milito scores or bust. cassano is absolute trash. palacio not much better. i just got sacked after being pumped 3-0 at napoli. had 53% of the ball, for TWO SHOTS, none on target. compared to napoli who had 18 shots, 9 on target. after 15 games i had 5 wins, 7 draws and 3 losses, with 15 goals scored and 10 conceded. my starting lineup of:

handanovic/jonathan/juan/ranocchia/pereira/cambiasso/gargano/guarin/kovacic/milito/cassano managed to score 15 goals in 15 league games.

i repeat, do not pick inter. their finances are fucked too. i got taken over and there was no investment put in to wipe out debt. how useless.

i have absolutely no idea what i was doing wrong, but they would not score. it just would not happen. i can remember about 10 free headers that were put over the bar, countless one on one chances wasted, it just made no sense.

it's okay everyone, i'm now the new depor manager . no more tears for me.

first game, win 3-0 against 4th placed malaga with 3 shots on target and 36% possession .

Got Rovers into last 16 of Champions League in 4th season, 15-16. Got 12 points from a group with Bayern, Shakhtar & Marseille. Lost both against Bayern but won all other four games. Well chuffed!

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

Most fun I've ever had on FM was taking Droylsden from the BSN to championship playoff final last year. (they got relegated this year so won't be on next years either ). I was actually tempted to start a Serie C2 game since theres a club from San Marino who plays in it.

Booted up my Jeonbuk game for the first time in months the other day (ironically when i probably could've been working) and managed to go on an 11 game win streak to pick up a league and cup double. Considering I took over halfway through the season in 12th place you'd think the board would be happy but it was apparently expected Then I lost my 5* potential CB to national service for 2 years and another 2 first teamers to boot. Bleh.
