If I saw someone show the tactics I put out I'd probably feel the same way which is odd seeing as since I've changed to it I've won over 60% of my matches, at the beginning of the season besides the early signing of Weiss which was pre-agreed in January I only had Albrighton and N'Zogbia as wide choices and with Zogs attitude being terrible and Albrighton IMO not being ready for the main team I decided to go with a narrow diamond to make use of the central midfielders the club already had, which at the time worked to keep us up

I admit I'm not one to try educate others on FM as trust me I'm terrible at it despite pumping in 100s of hours each year but Makoun has been getting mid 7 ratings whoever he's been alongside

I played him mainly in DM set to defend in the diamond where he had - Marking 13, Tackling 15, Position 15, Work Rate 18, Team Work 16, Stamina 16, Strength 12, Concentration 12 and Decisions 13 - honestly if you have better suggestions for that kind of role at Aston Villa with the budget I have I'd love to hear them! That's not me taking the piss either, I'm being serious, as when I load the game and read stats those aren't terrible

When it comes to knowing what your team has and working with it, Makoun is according to my assistant best at every midfield role besides out wide so when you say get rid of him I'm slightly confused, not saying you're wrong or anything but clearly the game feels he works in a number of positions better than anyone I have, so with that said when I start up a game and look to my team reports what do I do?

Oh and I didn't sign Delap, he was here once I came in during December, trust me I'd never sign him. Ever.

I find with this game there is just too much to look at which I why I inevitably give up, you go for key attributes which in many ways you'd think sure make it easier for you, for someone who wants to come in and do a job but you'll often find those attributes simply aren't enough

he would work fine in as a dm. i have nzonzi who has similar stats and he's great. but by the looks of it you're going to play him as a cm. i don't think he has the ability to play as a cm. obviously if it works, it works, but i can't see a midfield duo of mcarthur/makoun getting you much success.

im not having any major troubles with it.

however just had an fa cup game vs millwall and their cb scored with a lob from inside their own half. probably about 70 yards. begovic wasn't off his line. accepted it because kightly scored a goal off a cross when their keeper wasn't off their line. ended 4-3 after i was 4-0 up

managed to avenge my 2-3 90th minute loss agaisnt man city with a 3-2 90th minute win at home. has been a really good season so far, only losses to city (2-3), arsenal (0-3) and chelsea (0-1) in the league, with draws to chelsea away (1-1), norwich away (2-2), west brom home (2-2), fulham away (2-2) and swansea home (1-1). 22 games in and im still 7 points behind top placed arsenal, but now 6 ahead of 5th placed liverpool. i reckon with only tough games in spurs, arsenal and utd remaining in the next 15 i might be able to nick 3rd.

in the jan window, brought in a regen cb (550k), henen (950k), hoarau on loan and farfan on loan. shipped off sorensen for 250k and got rid of edu and owen through mutual termination, just to get them off the wage bill. both made like 2 appearances between them. will also be letting go delap, higginbotham and upson at the end of the season, while whitehead wants like 40k a week and he doesnt deserve that. will also try to sign cassani permanently.

Can't imagine how it fixes the match engine. Maybe shows less of their faults.

Currently playing my Newcastle file along, very slowly, in hopes that they fix the problems before the end of the season. Players are starting to take too many longs shots, especially Cabaye in his role.

I watch the key moments of the game in 3D and some of the animations are genuinely horrendous, I fail to see how they made it out of alpha testing, I scored yesterday using Swansea against United because De Gea, Vidic, Ferdinand and a midfield player were stacked on top of each other when a ball came in, Dyer runs into the group and prods it home from literally about 4 yards out, he took about 5-10 seconds of in game time to get to it and tap in, wtf is that all about?

Also funny is the fact you can set every player to long shots rarely and over 60% of your shots are still from long range, even against teams you can play through

Moving on I started Aston Villa again this time obviously I'd have a chance to bring in my own players instead of in January, here are the tactics I'm using and the few transfers I've done



I missed out on Drenthe on a free and Reo Coker which was irritating but oh well. Need suggestions of an AML/R player I think unless I use Albrighton



Tactics - not sure what tempo to be playing at if I'm using counter attacking, best for quick but not sure how quick - again I'm not that good so anyone with any comments let me know and yes I'm aware Jonathan can get up and down the wingback position alot which may cause me problems unless I root him to the spot, in which case for supporting maybe Hutton is better

As for DLP - I'm not sure what the hell Delph is meant to do in midfield or how well his stats will go up but unless I use someone else I don't think he'll be doing much good for me - obviously with 150k spare wage budget and only a couple of million quid I'm restricted in what I can do but any thoughts would be helpful

He's old and will only last about a season but what are Cristiano Zanetti's stats lie in relation to him being a DLP? Presuming he's still a free agent and/or you want a player of that age as a stop-gap.

Really need to make those images smaller, he's signed for someone, I've had him at a championship club for a season and he did relatively well so he may have been an option

I've stuck Delph on individual training for DLP as well as Gabby for a winger, this is the first time I've used this training feature, I'm guessing I've missed out? Aha
