Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

start of the game i sell off all the reserves that have any decent value which i can then spend on quality first teamers. Then after i've done my transfers i try and get some money spent on training facilities, youth recruiting and coaching. Then go after regens. So my reserves is pretty important, as i'll also put players i already have in there to make room for new transfers.

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

I usually get rid of most of my reserve team and use it as a way to keep players in my first team squad not getting games match fit, always buy a few kids in my first transfer window if I can and put them in the reserves to get them ready for the second season

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

For the reserves I get rid of any players over 24 years old and I also check the "Potential Rating" of a player from my Assistant Manager (I usually hire an Ass Man with 15+ Judging player potential" and if it's anything less than 4 stars then I get rid of the player

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

It really depends on the club i'm at as well, training a kid with a star less than making your first team is worth it if you can give him a couple of games, drive his price up and then flog him. Sometimes you'll get a gem, whos 1st team quality staight out the regen week. Nothing like a 16yr old wonderkid banging them in on 55 per week..

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

Depending on what League I'm in changes my thoughts on whether I keep or sell reserves. More likely to keep players if im managing in Spain/Australia but other then that its sell the crap and keep the quality.

I hope to win the leagues. I get some satisfaction over not controlling the tactics or team selection, but the players who are involved in the set-up. So I can at least think I have a good youth for the future. That's only when I'm managing a big team though.

Carson, Steele (depends how he has grown), green, Ruddy and butland (also depending on how he has developed).

Outside of Hart England's goalies they are not many options to choose from. Always had a panic when Hart got a knock more then any other position

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

Just lost the World Cup final to Germany on penalties :'(. I was down 2-0 in the 87th minute, and I drew it back to 2-2 through Welbeck and the stunning free-kick from Gerrard. I then took the lead in ET through Phil Jones head, but conceded in the 113th minute and lost 4-3 on penalties. I had a bloody hard run to the final too, going through Portugal (group) Italy (round of 16), France (quarter final) and Argentina (semi final). Here's my squad:

GK Hart, Butland, Green
DF Richards, Walker, Baines, Robinson, Terry (only played first game as he got injured), Shawcross, Smalling, Jones
MD Walcott, Milner, Johnson, Young, Gerrard, Wilshere, Lampard, Rodwell, Cleverley, Oxlade-Chamberlain
ST Bent, Welbeck (Rooney broke leg on last day of the season)

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

I'm in 2017 and have never won a penalty shootout in any competition, neither have any of my goalkeepers ever saved one, can't help but think that they are a little weighted towards the AI in FM2012.

I beat France is the quarter finals on a penalty shootout and Joe Hart saved about 3 of them, but other than that i've never won or had my goalkeeper save many at all.
