My board has been pretty excellent to me. From memory I got a 29 mil budget after getting into the prem
cant argue with that. You and Vader both selected Southampton though didnt you??

I think the biggest challenge out of the league 1 clubs is Walsall as they have the smallest budget available.

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

nah, i went with Brighton. i just signed a lot of frees and put most of my transfer budget to my wage budget and a few young players like Varane, McEachran who i'm paying off most of their transfer over 48 months.

Thats what i do. I get my transfer budget then put it all into wage budget then hammer the free market. You get some serious talent in there D.Bieseswar, Pedro Boetelho, Liam Bridcutt, Wahid Khaziri, Brandy, and my most recent Gaetano d'Agostino all on free transfers

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

yeah, first season i picked up Tristan, N'Gadi, Yakubu, Wescley and Assulin (among others on frees) and they were all pretty good to awesome for me. Tristan dominated in league 1, Wescley is still my CB in the prem, N'Gadi is still on my bench and the rest got me good money on transfers.

2nd season was Eidur Gudjohnson, Ottl and a couple of rejected Liverpool defenders in Kelly and Flanagan + some others.

This season was Alan Smith from Newcastle who is a solid cheap squad player for me atm, Willian who for some reason wasn't resigned by Shakhtar, Drenthe and Klose. Klose has been a big disappointment for me. He's not too bad with his technical stats but his physical stats blow. Just too slow to make an impact anymore so he's tutoring my young strikers.

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

Yeah I definitely had the easy option with Southampton - I got 7 million in my first season, raised about 15 million by the 2nd season and from sales and other funds I had about 15 million for the first season in the Prem too. For whatever reason, Southampton are rolling in money.

Simpsons quote sums it up.

"How do you sleep a night?"

"On top of a pile of money with many beautiful ladies."

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

legend.

how are you going Vader? we definitely had a far easier time of things in terms of money. I'm in 9th atm after 14 games. I'm pretty much resigned to finishing about this level though as i can beat all the mid to lower teams but i've been spanked by Arsenal, United, Spurs, beaten by City, Everton (and west ham but i always struggle with them no matter which team i use. no idea why). The only top team i've done well against was Chelsea and that was a 2-2 draw where Drogba wqualised with about 10 to go

Re: *Official Football Manager Discussion Thread*

I've only played about 3 or 4 games, not been on it for a bit - need a break from it every now and then so I don't get bored of it. I've beat Liverpool, drew at Arsenal and got beat off Fulham. So I do well against the big teams and shit against the crap teams - I've turned Southampton into Liverpool

I had a tough run with fixtures, my game has a boner for Peterbrough and some white Togolese guy from Swindon scores 4 goals against me.
