Default Re: Football Manager 2008

I started playing FM a few days ago and I just finished a season with Arsenal and came 4th. It is a great game, however it is odd how I have a great game against say...AS Roma one night where I win 4-1, and then lost to Birmingham 2-0 about 4-5 days later

I've continued on with Arsenal, and have signed Ribery, Kompany, Sol Campbell , and Barthez (still have Lehmann starting, with Barthez as second choice...hes got 2 years on his contract (Barthez) so I suppose he will be good enough. I put Almunia in reserves with Fabianski.

I sometimes find the game quite hard, so if anyone has any tips on how to succeed in matches etc...I would love to hear it

^^

The game is generally a lot harder, problems with the game cause this, a new patch is out however to fix this and can be downloaded at the official site.

Im on my 4th season now! Won the league in my 1st season with arsenal, 2nd season won the league, FA cup and Champions League, 3rd season finished 2nd and runner up in champions league. Anyone playing as arsenal sign Henry back. I got him for 15 million. Scored neary a goal a game in 2 seasons and just sold him for 10 million in 2010. Owen is a bargain as well at 10 mil. Just signed Bojan on a free transfer. Great Prospect!

Default Re: Football Manager 2008

some info on Football Manager, Credit CF on another Forum for this.

Useful Sites

www.sigames.com
www.footballmanager.net
www.sortitoutsi.net
www.thedugout.net
www.fmunderground.net
www.fmgamer.com

How to...

...post a screenshot

Take a screenshot pressing the "PrtSc" key on your keyboard. For some laptop users, you'll have to hold down the "square" key (bottom left corner of your keyboard) whilst pressing "PrtSc"

Open up Paint, right click on mouse and select "paste". Save as a "jpeg".

Go to www.imageshack.us and click "browse".

Search for wherever you saved your pic to, when you've found it select it click open or double click the icon.

Click "host it". A list of URL's will appear when the page loads.

If you have a large picture, choose "thumbnail for forums" at the top and if you have a small picture then scroll down to the bottom to "direct link to image".

Highlight the URL and copy it.

And you're done. Screenshot taken, hosted and posted.

...put your game in windowed mode

1. Make sure your screen resolution is at a minimum 1024*768.
2. Right click then on the FM shortcut on your desktop and choose "properties" from the menu that appears.
3. In the field marked "target" write this "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\fm.exe" -windowed -small_screen
4. Click apply then ok.
5. Start the game via that shortcut.
6. Go the game preferences screen and under display and sound, un-check the option to play in 'full screen' mode.

.

... post a goal

First of all, you download HyperCam 2 to capture the goal. All you do is select the region you want to record your goal and capture it with the Hot Key (F2 is the default record button on HyperCam 2).

After you've recorded your goal, the location of it should be in your Documents folder under the name "clip0000.avi".

THEN you use Ulead GIF Animator to open your AVI recorded goal. Then you save it as a GIF file by clicking the drop-down arrow next to the save icon and select "As GIF File".

Yuo can then save it as any name you like and upload it to your favourite image hoster.

PM me with info for getting it started. In other news I went to a rather awesome games show today and they were showing Football Manager Live, I guarantee I will be playing that in the summer when it comes out.

Can anyone recommend some good Championship quality players? I'm playing as West Brom at the moment, just started. Also, any good keepers to sign?

I played a season at United which was a disaster so I thought I'd try it at a lower level and work up. I chose West Brom for the fact they have a player called Pele. How can I lose?!

I am currently managing Sutton Utf formerly of Blue Square South until I got them promoted, we currently lie 16th. Anyway Danny Haynes is pretty good. I can't think of many keepers, maybe try some from the United reserves or Luke Steel or Speroni aren't bad.

I already have Steele, I've got Dean Kiely as my number one currently. My assistant told me our goalkeeping area was weak. I've signed Ron Robert Zieler from United on loan for the season, as back up more than anything. I'll most likely hold out for this season with what I have then if I get to the Premiership, have more money for a long-term option.

Just drawn 2-2 in a friendly with Villa, jammy gits scored in the last minute.
