Tried it, tried all my games, tried cleaning all of the games, then tried them again, tried using a laser cleaner(I already had) as a last resort...it didn't work...and a two minute phone call to a dutchman called charles and I have a new PS3 on the way free of charge! It seems its a fairly common occurance after looking on several ps3 forums.

That sounds a bit like the PS2 back in the old days, when the disc reader wouldn't work and many people had to get a new PS2. I was lucky mine is still working after five years of playing, well 4 playing, and 1 not playing.
But that is actually the first I've heard about the PS3 laser not working, still it probably isn't as bad as the 360 malfunctions. Good that you got a new console so quick.

I have two questions both regarding Rock Band. I am trying to get all the achievements on it.
1) Does anyone have the Platinum Artist achievement that is willing to play with me for the Riding on Cocktails achievement? If you do not have it either I am a Platinum artist and would be willing to help out.
2) How do you get the "Big in ___" achievements? I have played through all of Boston on expert and still haven't gotten it, do you need all of the stars in a venue in order to get it?

I've had mine the same amount of time, it still plays most of the games, if not i just use my sisters, the big ones are pretty durable.
And 3-D it's probably a problem with your internet, does it run smoothly the rest of the game.
