If you had to spend the rest of your life owning just 1 console with games only from a specific year...

What would it be, and which year? PC and game bundles/collections don't count.

I'll go with the N64 and the 1997 library . Why?

Star Fox 64

Diddy Kong Racing

Goldeneye

Killer Instinct Gold

Mario Kart 64

Duke Nukem 64

Doom 64

Mace: The Dark Age

WCW vs nWo World Tour

Miscief Makers

Blast Corps

Turok 64

Bomberman 64

Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey

featuring Hexen.

Give me back my old FIRE ORANGE N64 controller and I'm good to go.

Re: If you had to spend the rest of your life owning just 1 console with games only from a specific year...

In my prime video game years as a teen, I played the shit out of sports games so those were my bread and butter.

Last Gen and Current Gen still have never figured out sports games to the level of 04/05. I have flat out given up on sports games (and home consoles in general) today where "OMG PRETTY GRAPHICS"are all that matters and gameplay has taken a backseat. Fuck that noise; it used to be better.

So I'll go PS2 and 2004. All the sports titles during that cycle were classics.

ESPN NFL 2K5 - CLASSIC
ESPN NHL 2K5 - CLASSIC
MVP Baseball 2005 - CLASSIC
Madden 2005 - CLASSIC
NCAA 2005 - CLASSIC
Fight Night - CLASSIC
GTA San Andreas - CLASSIC

PS1, 1996.

Crash Bandicoot
Tomb Raider
Resident Evil
Die Hard Trilogy
Duke Nukem Em 3D
Legacy Of Kain: Blood Omen
Destruction Derby 2
Twisted Metal 2
Wipeout 2097
Alien Trilogy
NBA Hangtime
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Tekken 2
Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Dead Or Alive
FIFA 97
The King Of Fighters
WWF In Your House
WCW vs. The World

My only problem here is just less wrestling games and the best ones came out later. Wrestling games are my one of my favourite game genres. 2000 seems to be the best year for wrestling games on the PS1, Spider-Man 1 was also released that year and Spider-Man games are also my favourite games, but 2000 seems to be lacking on fighting games, another favourite, and it doesn't have as many good names in it's library like 1996 does. It was between those two years for me.

WCW vs The World was decent tbf, but Sega Saturn had the FAR superior All Japan Pro Wrestling feat Virtua that came out at around the same time. The only Fire Pro game released on the PSX in 1996 is Iron Slam and it's the shittiest in the series. (not counting the XBL abortion from 2012).

I'd have to go Xbox 360 and the year 2008

I really would only need Left 4 Dead, but I'd also have

Burnout Paradise
Fable 2
CoD WaW therefore zombies
GTA 4
Dead Space
Castle Crashers
Mirrors Edge
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Rock Band 2
Fallout 3
Gears of War 2
Battlefield Bad Company
Ninja Gaiden 2
Saints Row 2
Far Cry 2
Braid which I hate but whatevs

I forgot half of those even came out in 2008 I just new I wanted L4D and the list turned out so nice lol. So yeah give me The 360 in 2008

Re: If you had to spend the rest of your life owning just 1 console with games only from a specific year...

I am probably the least qualified person to comment on this thread as i dont even own a guames console these days. so i apologise in advance.

The N64 was always my console growing up though,
I have a lot of memories and nostalgia associated with it.
So if i ever did buy another games console in my lifetime, than that would be my first choice.

WCW V NWO Revenge (98 was it ?)

Mania 2000 and No mercy also hold a lot of love in my heart but Revenge was the first and only game i ever put serious hours into.

WWf Attitude
Now that was a terrible games wasn't it ?
I hated that game when i was younger,
Such a let down compared to the THQ games wasn't it.

I peaked as a gamer the year MW2 came out. That was 2009. So I'll go with the PS3 with 2009 games including MW2, NBA 2k10, Fifa 10, Madden, Assassins Creed, and whichever WWE game came out that year that I didn't have. I think I could live off that. Used to be free online play as well on PS3.

Insert suggestive pic of teets here.

Fantisic recall and list but you omitted the greatness that was Soul Calibur! Also, Jet Grind Radio with Jurassic Five on the sound boards!

The amount of LSD and Dreamcast I consumed in those days was staggering!

Re: If you had to spend the rest of your life owning just 1 console with games only from a specific year...

This is just mean....... I guess PS3 and 2009? A lot of great titles... or maybe 360 and 2010. Pretty much between that. As great as PS2 was, hard to compete against the triple whammy of 2009 with Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, and Dragon Age: Origins or the 2010 with Mass Effect 2, RDR, Assassin's Creed, and probably something else I'm forgetting.

Thanks for the wonderful memories Ultimate Warrior... happy you got to be recognised as the legend you are before you went. Rest in peace
