2015 In Video Games So Far

2015 In Video Gamies So Far

The first half of 2015 is almost over. Concerning video games, it's been an interesting first half of the year, capped off by a memorable E3 and the big budget Batman: Arkham Knight. So, with that being said, what are your thoughts on 2015 so far as it pertains to video games? I've come up with a few questions as well. Just answer whatever applies.

What are your Top 3 or 5* Games so far?
*If you can only name one, just name one

What are the Top 3 or 5 Games you're looking forward to in the latter half of 2015?

Biggest Surprise of the year so far?

Biggest Disappointment of the year so far?

Your System of choice?

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen), are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?

------------

I suppose I should answer my own questions.

What are your Top 3 or 5* Games so far?
Bloodborne
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires

What are the Top 3 or 5 Games you're looking forward to in the latter half of 2015?
Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence
Star Wars Battlefront
Dragon Quest Heroes

Biggest Surprise of the year so far?
Final Fantasy VIIR

Biggest Disappointment of the year so far?
Being burned out on open world RPGs so having very little playtime on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Your System of choice?
PS4

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?
Nope. Tales of Zestiria and Legend of Legacy are being released in Q4 2014, though, so that should be rectified.

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?
It's been solid. Getting to replay one of my favorite games ever (Majora's Mask) is always good. Bloodborne was awesome. Shame Dragon Age Inquisition burned me out on open world RPGs for the foreseeable future, though, so The Witcher 3 sufffered the brunt of that.

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen), are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?
I have a PS4. I sold my Wii U. If Nintendo releases a Red Wii U coinciding with Super Mario Maker, I may rebuy the Wii U. As far as the Xbox One is concerned, I'll wait until next year when the Gears 4 Special Edition drops.

Re: 2015 In Video Games So Far

i'm not going to count remasters because those are games from previous generations

What are your Top 3 or 5* Games so far?
*If you can only name one, just name one

Arkham Knight - loving everything about it

HellDivers - one of the best coop twin stick shooters i've ever played

Witcher 3 - immersive open world

What are the Top 3 or 5 Games you're looking forward to in the latter half of 2015?

No Man's Sky
Battlefront
WWE 2K16 (no shame)

Biggest Surprise of the year so far?

Helldivers I guess. didn't expect to have so much fun on a $20 game

Biggest Disappointment of the year so far?

MK 10 - the DLC system is criminal and the gameplay isn't that much better than Injustice. I expected to play this for months and got bored after 2 weeks

Your System of choice?

PS4, didn't play many PC games this year

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?

I guess. Witcher 3 and Arkham have been addicting open world experiences, but I wish there were more

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?

much, much worse. I'm seing the current remastering trend and i'm praying that it dies a quick and painful death

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen), are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future

no. i'm not ruling out a Wii U but the X1 doesn't have anything on it right now that I can't go without. Rare collection is making me jelly but that's not enough

Re: 2015 In Video Games So Far

What are your Top 3 or 5* Games so far?

The Witcher 3
Arkham Knight (this is provisional as ive only just started it, but there is a big
chance it'll be great)
Sniper Elite 3: Ultimate Edition. Yeah, i loved this.

What are the Top 3 or 5 Games you're looking forward to in the latter half of 2015?

Mad Max
Metal Gear Solid V
Fallout 4

Biggest Surprise of the year so far?

Shenmue 3 being announced.

Biggest Disappointment of the year so far?

Id say the Arkham Knight DLC nonsense TBH.

Your System of choice?

Playstation 4. Moved over from M$ after being a 360 owner last gen.

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?

Well, my favorite genre has always been FPS. Yes i know it can be a much derived genre, but
ive always been a big fan, but i accept the PS4 isn;t going to have as many as the One. But
we have the fantastic Wolfenstein, plus Doom is on the way, and hopefullt more, along with more third person shooters.

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?

As the year has progressed, we can now start to really see the power and potential of
the PS4 and the next gen in general, as E3 perfectly demonstrated, plus there are more than enough
quality titles coming out before Xmas.

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen),
are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?

Well, ill be sticking to my PS4 exclusively TBH. I admit to being envious of Gears Of War and Halo, having been a big fan and owner of the previous installments, but im a one console bloke nowadays i think.

Re: 2015 In Video Games So Far

I've only played 3 new games this year and in order;
1) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
2) Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
3) Dragon Ball: Xenoverse.

What are the Top 3 or 5 Games you're looking forward to in the latter half of 2015?

1) Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
2) Fable Legends
3) Fallout 4.

Biggest Surprise of the year so far?

1) Shenmue III. I never thought it would happen, but it is and I hope they make it worth the wait.
2) Backwards compatibility (although limited) on Xbox One. It should have been available from the beginning.

Your System of choice?

I own an Xbox One, so I'll have to go with that.

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?

Yes, though I hope that SEGA announce Sonic Adventure 3 next year.

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?

Better. I had little to no interest in gaming in 2014, but 2015/2016 seems like a good way to really get the next generation consoles + games going.

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen), are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?

I'd be interested in playing Ratchet and Clank and Shenmue III, but it's not enough to warrant a PS4 purchase.

Re: 2015 In Video Games So Far

-The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
-Bloodborne
-Pillars of Eternity
-Batman: Arkham Knight
-Dying Light

What are the Top 3 or 5 Games you're looking forward to in the latter half of 2015?

-Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
-Fallout 4
-Star Wars: Battlefront
-XCOM 2

I'd also say Torment: Tides of Numenera but I doubt it will be released this year so... I dunno, Assassin's Creed I guess? Though I'm not really sure if I'm excited for it or it's more a case of "I buy these every year and it looks fun enough for me".

Biggest Surprise of the year so far?

Well, we've actually gotten quite a few big surprises this year, haven't we? Pretty exciting. I'd say the biggest surprise for me would also be Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Biggest Disappointment of the year so far?

Project CARS. Fun game overall.... When it works, that is.

Your System of choice?

PS4, have surprisingly been playing on my PC less and less for whatever reason. I should fix that...

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?

I suppose so, yeah, Bloodborne and The Witcher were stellar games.

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?

FAR better. 2014 wasn't a totally terrible year for me, but it really lacked those really "great" games, you know what I mean? Like, it didn't have anything close to the quality of The Witcher 3 or Bloodborne to me. Not to mention there were a lot of other games I really enjoyed too.

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen), are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?

I'd consider an Xbone for a few games (Halo, Gears, Scalebound, Quantum Break), but I don't think I'd have the time for it, honestly. I play enough games as is. So, I think I'm just going to stay Sony and PC exclusive from now on.

Re: 2015 In Video Games So Far

Top 5 games so far
1. The Witcher 3
2. Arkham Knight
3. Dying Light
4. Bloodborne
5. Battlefield Hardline

Top 5 most anticipated for later in 2015
1. Fallout 4
2. Star Wars Battlefront
3. Hitman
4. Until Dawn
5. Mad Max

Biggest surprise of the year so far
Life Is Strange. Really enjoying it so far. Hell, I'd go as far as to say it outdoes Telltale games.

Biggest disappointment
Evolve. I paid $60 for that piece of shit

System of choice
PS4. I've always preferred the Playstation consoles to everything else, though I do have a Wii-U as well

Has your genere been represented well
My fave genere has always been RPGs, so yeah. Witcher 3 and Bloodborne are phenomenal. Fallout 4 is gonna be amazing as well

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?
I honestly don't remember early 2014 too much but I think early 2015 tops it. Late 2014 had some decent games but I don't think there was much at the first half, so yeah I guess

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen),
are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?
I'll stick to my PS4 and Wii-U. No interest in owning an X1

Fallout 4
Star Wars: Battlefront
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection
Assassin's Creed Syndicate

This could change though depending on my finances. If I have the fortune of getting a disposable income I may end up purchasing an Xbone.

Hmm probably Phil Spencer announcing backwards compatibility for the Xbone.

No Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy

PS4. However Phil Spencer is doing a tremendous job of actually making me strongly consider buying an Xbone.

I don't really have a favorite genre tbh, I just like video games

Better. We're now over that generation beginning hump, so big AAA titles are finally starting to get released.

I am definitely considering buying an Xbone.

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?
Bloodborne and The Witcher 3 were released in the first half, but the dramatic increase in RPGs of all-types begins soon for the 2nd half of the year.

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?
It's been great. Lots of games I've been looking forward to finally releasing and delivering, and the 2nd half of the year looks to be amazing.

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen), are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?
I have a PS4, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, and a good PC to play what I want...so no, why would I need an XB1 when I can already play 99% of the good games out there? None of the XB1 exclusives interest me since I don't care for Gears, Halo, or Fable and the rest of the exclusives are nothing but CG trailers so there is nothing to get excited about.

To those who loved this world...
and knew friendly company therein...

What are your Top 3 or 5* Games so far?

Arkham Knight
Witcher 3

What are the Top 3 or 5 Games you're looking forward to in the latter half of 2015?

Tomb Raider
Rainbow Six Siege
Halo 5
Battlefront
Gears of War Ultimate

Biggest Surprise of the year so far

Gears of War Ultimate announced with MP from all 3 games

Biggest Disappointment of the year so far?

Exclusivity of Tomb Raider , Street Fighter and Shenmue 3 on their respected consoles .

Your System of Choice

Xbox one , they've hit it out of the park for the 2nd Holiday season in a row and beyond . I think PS4 is coming away with it next year though

Has your favorite genre been well represented in the first half of 2015? If not, will the second half of 2015 fit your tastes better?

Action games have been great like Witcher 3 , and Arkham Knight easily being GOTY candidates though they came out pretty late in the first half

Has 2015, so far, been a better year for you as far as games are concerned or has it been worse?

It's been slow for me but its turning around with the second half of 2015, it looks like it could be one of if not the best year in gaming in the past 10 years.

If you have one or two current generation consoles (or have upgraded your PC to specs befitting this gen), are you interested in purchasing a system you do not have in the future or near future?

Have a gaming PC and an Xbox One but I don't think I can say no to Uncharted 4 when that comes out
