Re: Dangerous Dave: What are the top 5 best 2D platformers you've played since the Atari days?

1. Donkey Kong Country
2. Mega Man X
3. Yoshi's Island
4. Donkey Kong Country 2
5. Super Mario World

Super Metroid would be easy #4 but I never considered it a platformer. I guess it is? If that means I count every Metroidvania then Symphony of the Night is easy #5 .

Deciding b/w the last two were tough (w/out metrovanias). Mega Man 2 is a really close #6 and it could have been #4 . I also seriously considered Shovel Knight for top 5. Would feel bad if I didn't mention Rondo of Blood, Kirby Superstar, SMB3, MMX2, MM1, and some things I forget. 2d platformers might be my favourite genre but there aren't actually as many I really LOVE as I'd think there'd be. DKC, MMX and SMW2 are three of my top 4 favourite games, though.

Re: Dangerous Dave: What are the top 5 best 2D platformers you've played since the Atari days?

Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Super Mario Allstars
Yoshi's Island
Ducktales

DKC2 is objectively a better game than 1, but I love the first more for it's game feel and atmosphere, in addition to the nostalgia it holds for me personally as the first game I ever played, so it tops my list.
