Ok so im new to the whole Far Cry games - ive seen the trailer for the new game on the ps4 and think it looks amazing.

in saying that i have never played any of the earlier games and im wondering if that would hinder my enjoyment of the 4th which i think i will get.

should i play the others?is there a need too? what are the Far Cry games about?

Re: far cry 4

I've only played FC3 but I don't think having played it or not will hinder your enjoyment of FC4. FC3 is a very good game though and you can probably pick it up pretty cheap so I'd certainly recommend it if you wanted a preview of what 4 might be like

Re: far cry 4

Damn. People keep making a Far cry 4 thread....AND I FUCKING LOVE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM!!!!

Far Cry 1 was popular because graphics, huge open levels, somewhat of a sneaking system, and you could go prone and roll on your back. Lots of spin-offs followed.

Far Cry 2 was popular and highly anticipated. It delivered, a wide open FPS in Africa. Great graphics and stuff. But, the realistic feature of gun jams and travel time hurt the game. I never met anyone who finished it. Still great though.

Far Cry 3 is one the greatest games ever made. I can't say much because it's an experience as much as just a fun game. I don't want to influence your adventure at all. It will leave your bowels empty and instead filled with joy.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was a spin-off of 3. It had a cheesy 80's theme to it and it was a lot of fun. a bit short, but it was only $15.

Far Cry 4 is basically the rapture. God will be returning in a 8x5 plastic form and taking back all Far Cry 4 players to heaven so they can play it there for eternity. Repent now and reserve Far Cry 4.

Re: far cry 4

played them all. they're all fun, 3 was good for a while but after some time, got a little boring and I couldn't finish it. might hold off on this one until I get some feedback on it

Re: far cry 4

I'd say you should play Far Cry 3 because it's fucking awesome. That's the only game in the series I've played, and from what I gather the story is totally unrelated to the first two. As far as I'm aware the fourth is unconnected, too.

Re: far cry 4

Their not related, so just pick up the 4. The 3 is a rather good game, so i'd give it a go. I personally found that it got boring after awhile, but I can see why a lot of people love it.

Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon are well worth picking up!!!

Even if you don't I don't see why you'd have any trouble jumping into Far Cry 4. It's an open world FPS with minor RPG elements.
