Default Anyone here used a vr headset before?

Spoiler for page stretching:

So we all know about the new craze coming to gaiming after touch controls, kinect hands free gaming and 3d. Virtual reality simulation.

The university I am at had someone who had an oculus rift for programming purposes so I tried it out.
The experience is very immersive I will get that out of the way but it was not worth it.

This was due to the severe migraine I got from playing for 5 minutes of an indie game.
The guy in front of me played skyrim and threw up because the oculus tricks the mind into thinking you are in the world so if you jump off a cliff in skyrim it tells your brain you wil die.
Not to nice to have someone get sick in front of you.

The oculus was awesome and it works well albeit far too well like you put it on and if your character falls down it tells your brain you fell down but your are standing up.
Happened with me fell down and I was standing up.

My experience with one.

Did your experience with a vr headset make you feel immersed or sick or happy?

i did try a prototype at six flags in the late 90's, the graphics were not very good at all but the movement was spot on. i tried the virtual boy too which was complete garbage that made you nauseous after 20 minutes of gameplay.

the oculus rift and project morpheus look like much better peripherals but i don't have hands on experience with them. just going by reports.

I saw a YouTube video with an Oculus Rift game concept that was just outstanding. It was a horror genre game where you- get this!- sit on a couch playing a game-within-the-game, but the further you progress in the game-within-a-game, the more you realize that the game is haunted and causing things to happen in virtual real life. I guess it's kind of hard to explain, so here is a video of a guy playing the game and having fun with the concept.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYvewljW7Lg

He makes a pretty telling comment at 7:43 about what it's like to play the game.

I have, they actually have a set up in the room next door to me now at my Uni. I know the person who runs it and was able to have a go a couple of weeks ago and it's pretty good. The graphics on this one were I'd say early PS3ish but it was quite a basic set up.

The bitch put me on a roller coaster simulator then pushed me over when I went over the edge
