Sting is good on the mic. He was also a good wrestler. Is he, or was he the best? No, but everybody and their mother knows it was his energy and charisma that better wrestlers or mic workers simply don't even come CLOSE to honing. There's more to wrestling than wrestling and mic work. If you can't get over with the crowd, you're shit. You either have it, or you don't. Sting being so big dressing up as the Crow and "dropping from the ceiling" just shows how big of a fan favorite Sting was/is. You don't last thing long by being "lucky." Sting had IT.
