Re: AJ Styles not offered a new contract (yet)
It's probably just the usual "I might be leaving" shenanigans we always get around contract-negotiation time. They all do it to try and get the best terms for their contracts (and why not?).
Then again, if AJ has ever had any inclination towards wrestling for the WWE then now is his last chance. He also has less to lose. If he signed a 2 year contract with them, he could possibly be the next big thing. But if they dress him like Barney the Dinosaur and job him to Hornswoggle every night, does it matter? He knows full well that in 2 years time, at 38, he could still swan back into TNA if he wanted to. So what's he got to lose? It's not like he's 25 and being buried by Vince could end his career.
So worst case scenario is at 38 he could be working in TNA. The difference is, if he leaves he has the potential to make a lot of money and make a big impact. So really, why wouldn't he leave, if the worst case scenario of him leaving is being in the same position as if he just re-signed now?
As a fan, I'd hate to see him leave but really, if he has a shot at joining the WWE I think he'd be a fool not to take it.
EDITED TO ADD: In fact there is no downside. Even if he left for 2 tears and was buried by Vince, just being away from the TNA product would refresh his character. He can either carry on plugging away as he has been for the last 11 years. Or he could be away (and possibly make it big in the E) and then, even if he's buried, he could return in 2 years with a, "Someone's jumped the ropes! He's broken the pin! Oh my God..... It's AJ STYLES!! It's AJ STYLES!!! AJ is back in TNA!!" Just from the TNA point of view, a break would do him some good.
The more I think about it, the more sense it makes for AJ to jump ship. (If the offer is on the table, of course).
