Default AJ's current role

I have talked about this with a few people and figured it would make a good bit of discussion. I feel like mostly everyone on here would say that AJ is winning the BFG Series come September when it concludes. My question is, beyond the fact that AJ is obviously a great wrestler and is "the pioneer of TNA", why would a casual fan be into him in his current state? Most compare him to Sting, but Sting mostly cared about taking out the likes of the nWo when he was in a similar state and did not attack faces like AJ has. Some of the people I have talked about this with have made the claim over how because he is a dick to "basically everyone on the roster," why should fans care about him more than the likes of Hardy/Angle/Joe/etc?

I would like to believe that in the months leading towards the conclusion of the BFG Series, they will start to give him some of his likable qualities back because as of now, I do not really see how TNA can expect fans to be too into him when his role is very undefined right now in terms of what side of the equation he falls on between heel/face. Why should people necessarily cheer him when he just acts like a jerk to basically everyone on the roster?

Keep in mind I am not bashing AJ at all, just more the mindset over how he is being booked as a character.

Everyone on the roster? Really?

He is being booked pretty logically (so far). Being a dick to guys like Storm (cost him the belt opportunity) is the way it should be.

I really should have clarified that that was part of the argument made to me that he was "being a dick to everyone on the roster" and not my own words.

Let's make him John Cena, yeah that sounds like a good plan, right? I mean everything John does is textbook likable good stuff. I can compare what you're saying directly to John Cena. The fact is, the clean cut goody two shoes pure heart babyface stopped working ever since the 90s. Rock, Austin, NWO, Jericho, and such were all jerks and were all cheered. AJ looks cool as shit, moves like a badass, wrestles like a badass, has the coolest theme in TNA, doesn't take shit from anyone, all these sound like excellent likable qualities to me.

Because his a dark horse and most people who aren't smarks probably wouldn't suspect him being the one to go all the way, storyline wise its the correct move and entertainment wise when it comes to his BFG match its the right move.

I'd like to think AJ can still have fans story wise because, if you were a fan of his before he left and heard his message saying he's going to do what he wants, you should understand what he feels. So those fans should know he's not actually a bad guy, he's just not siding with anyone. So seeing how AJ was falling apart before and this new attitude and style is what it takes for him to get what he wants, the fan should be rooting for him to finally recapture glory. He's really not a bad guy. However his actions are more than likely meant to give the casual fan a "why AJ why?" feel as well

AJ has a certain natural charisma that draws people to him. Even moreso when he's wrestling.

well lets compare two people

1. john cena: mr.nice guy
has all the positive qualities you said, never attacks faces, sucks up to the audience

and

2.Stone Cold Steve Austin
ruthless badass beer drinking redneck
destroys everyone who comes in his path, be it faces, heels, tweeners, divas or the chairman himself

and whom does the audience like? yeah..there you got your answer
