The problem with doing storylines inspired by political events is that not enough people pay attention to that kind of stuff for it to end up making a big difference. You can do a spoof of the Jersey Shore and make it somewhat successful because sadly more people probably pay attention to that. In order to do a political based storyline, it has to be something that the whole country is involved in, such as after 9/11 and the fear of Muslims, or during the Cold War and the hatred of the Soviets.

Yes TNA needs some rehashed stereotypical racist storylines to succeed. Let's bring Mark Copani, Shawn Divari & Melissa Anderson to act as a Syrian/Iranian terrorist cell trying to assassinate Sting the American icon & Hogan the real American while Chavo & Hernandez steal everybody's wallets & Eric Young tries to burn the American flag every week!

The whole Us vs Them only worked when it was just "Us"

I'm not user who I would book as a face and how I would respond when what ever group I portrayed as "evil" called me out

The difference is nowadays, to most people, why watch a fake wrestling show with a half assed political storyline when you can watch the real thing? The same thing with pro wrestling trying to incorporate elements of mma in the past. To wrestling fans, it sucked because wrestling fans watch for wrestling. To non hardcore casual fans, it sucked because it's half assed, not legit mma yet not good pro wrestling. To mma fans, it sucked because it ultimately, is still fake.

I think wrestling should just focus on delivering the best show, and bring pro wrestling to the 21st century, and stop trying to do the opposite of bringing 21st century into pro wrestling.

They could try doing some controversial stuff, like WWE, WCW and ECW did. Seems like wrestling companies today are pussies because they won't go over the line a bit. As Eric Bischoff's book title goes, "Controversy creates cash". Do some edgy stuff that gets people's attention.

yeah,

TNA could make a good start by signing Bashar Al Assad to a short term deal, then they can bring in Putin, Obama, Clinton and watch those ratings jump...

TNA BFG 2013

Putin vs Bully Ray - WHC main event

Obama vs Kurt Angle - winner gets the presidency match

Bashar Assad vs Syria Rebels - Monsters ball
