Re: Official TNA One Night Only X-Travaganza Discussion Thread.
Xscape - ** - This match was a mess.
Who did well: Perkins, Shaw, Rave.
Who looked like shit: Christian York (he's terrible...), Lince (typical Dorado aka sloppy fuck), Matt B.(good worker, terrible shape).
Silva was just... there.
New School vs Old school - ***+ - I really want to give this a better rating, but it was WAY too short. Another minus - I HATE Sabian's moveset. You're a tough guy from Philly and your moves are a bunch of vanilla dropkicks and dives. Nothing unique and nothing that fits his character at all.
Everything else about this match was very enjoyable. The whole show needed some stories pretty badly, but at least this match gave it to us. A simple story, 2 simple promos, 4 fine-good workers and... I care about your match, TNA. Kash stiffing the shit out of rookes was amazing. New school did their X Division stuff. Douglas was alright but he/the match needed more time. Oh well. Good for what it was.
E vs Chavo - Skipped.
Ultimate X - ***1/4 - It was good. No botches, some nice spots, everyone looked good, but... The match was pointless. I mean, extra pointless. It's not just a regular match, you "risk your life" in this gimmick so you can get that X, which represents... nothing. Good match with no heat whatsoever.
Kaz and Daniels promo - Good (what a shocker huh). Petey and Sonjay promo - Terrible and goofy as hell.
B.I. vs Petey and Sonjay - ***+ - Good match with a flat finsh. Kaz and Daniels doing their thing + Petey's return = The Impact Zone wasn't completely dead. Basic x division stuff. Everyone did their spots. Sonjay's comeback was exciting though. Dude was pretty fluent here.
Never hit the Canadian Destroyer on Kaz ever again pl0x. Or at least ask him to not sell it like THAT. Ugh.
RVD vs Lynn - *** - When people talk about Xtravaganza's crappy-ass crowd they usually mention Joe/Aries in those complaints and, tbh, I have no idea why. THIS is where the crowd is absolutely, 100% dead and it hurts the match. I'm not gonna say it hurts the match a lot though, 'cause it was your typical RVD/Lynn match with maybe 1 new sequence. An enjoyable lil spotfest, but that's about it.
Aries vs Joe - ***3/4+ - MOTN. The crowd wasn't very good at all, but The Zone wasn't bad enough during this match to hurt these guys' solid in-ring work. Seriously, what crowd will mark out over a leg-work? The semi-dead crowd was kinda fine in this case. Good wrestling, good leg-work, good selling and an alright finish. This was very enjoyable overall.
If you only know their TNA work and don't want to see the Slammiversary re-run, don't be afraid. This match is completely different from their Slammiversary stuff.
Overall - 7.5. Good show. If you want to see some decent-solid wrestling and 'send TNA a message', give them 15$. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
