Default Re: TNA the best wrestling product but not getting the ratings - why?

I'm not from the US but from what I read TNA is one of Spike TVs highest rated shows. So in terms of the channel its doing great. Tna could move channels BUT tna first has to maximise its possibilties with Spike TV as in first advertise n promote the product more, see if they should change days or times back to 9 or not. So tna before moving to a new channel should do everything to see what's the highest rating or viewers they could get on Spike as if tna just move to a new channel without enough exposure they could get poor ratings and get dropped or something like that.

Also wrestling isn't as big as it was and the demographics have changed.

Wrestling has dropped due to many people now knowing that its 'scripted' or 'fake' which has actually lost some interest in it also due to its quality of shows ofcourse like with wwe which has dropped.
Wrestling was first a show for men or adults then to younger men, teenagers and now to kids, so its audience has changed and doesn't have a stronger appeal as before.

TNA should promote more on tv.
But should look to change to a slightly bigger TV channel in the near future as the product is good, yes u can critisize it But that's with every show but impact has been good enough we're the show isn't a major issue in terms of quality.
BUT tna should maybe go back to its original days and show more x-division and fast paced action to attract fans and show that its 'DIFFERENT' from wwe and not a 'wwe Lite' as it sometimes looks. As if tna want to challenge wwe they have to be different as copying their will just make tna look like cheap imitations and why would fans watch a show that's just a cheaper version of wwe? So Tna need differention from wwe.
The points what people dislike about Wwe and what they want to see in it, tna should use that in their show, so exploit the weaknesses I.e. Fans want attitude era style in wwe, so tna should make impact abit more gritty or edgy. So fans instead of waiting for wwe to do it which they will never do they could just watch tna.

if we average the ratings 2008-09 we will get -

1.1 Average ratings for 2008-09.

But TNA in 2010 had an average rating of 1.06
and TNA in 2011 had an average rating of 1.17

averaging them gives 1.115 average ratings for 2010-11.

So, just read and gather some facts before you post.

Furthermore, TNA in 2012 had just 1.01 average rating.

TNA in 2009, 2010, 2011 was pure gold. But they just lost every bit of edge in their product with the new creative group.

Subjective, I guess.
  • Starting their most watched show of all time with an easy to botch gimmick match.
  • Introducing a huge signing after that botch, against jobber Homicide.
  • The Nasty Boys going over Eric Young (in a squash match) and Dudley Boyz, only to leave a few weeks later.
  • Val Venis going over Christopher Daniels, coming off the back of headlining a PPV. Venis left quickly.
  • Orlando Jordan squashing Samoa Joe.
  • Samoa Joe abducted by ninjas. Never explained, hence a huge fuck up.
  • Beer Money turning heel on Jarrett for no real reason.
  • Hulk Hogan feuding with Ric Flair over a WWE ring.
  • Nash, Hall and Waltman calling themselves the extremely uncool The Band.
  • Family man and Christian AJ Styles acting, unbelievably, like a playboy
  • Abyss getting powers from that ring.
  • Sting beating RVD up with a baseball bat for an eternity. Sting was going to be revealed as the face! There was no need to make it that brutal.
  • Kevin Nash squashing Eric Young in a cage match.

That's just a little sample of the first few months.

Yes you said it "early months" oF Impact. They were against WWE, what you expect from them, giving unknown new faces TV time. Are you insane? Which casual viewer would have known Eric Young without the feud against Kevin Nash. Just go to a psychiatric, you need check up.

2011 got a higher average rating than 2009, and the only reason 2010 didn't as well is because of the failed Monday night experiment. They did really well on Thursdays in 2010.

There are a couple of reasons:

- TNA is still unknown to most wrestling fans.
- Most of the people are not really interested in wrestling matches. They care more about the guys and storys.
- Its not about the talent, but the looks. Compare John Cena & The Rock with Jeff Hardy & Bully Ray or AJ Styles.
The TNA guys look more "normal" and Cena & Rock more like Superheros and first impressions count.
- A&8 are good and they had the best build up of every "invading" group so far, but its a old idee.
NWO, Alliance, Immortal, Nexus...its nothing new or shocking.
And you have guys like D-Von, Taz, DLo, Brisco and Bischop who are just not threatening or tough like they act.

If they were the best wrestling product in the world their ratings would drop to 0.5, keep in mind TNA's best draws of 2012 were claire lynch and stable brawls.

Nope, there are a lot of things wrong with the "10-10-10" storyline and the general direction, which lasted until that date. There were more holes in it than swiss cheese.

So having geriatrics Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan have a crap looking brawl on the first weekly Monday show, on the road to Wrestlemania, screamed must see. It was embarrassing.

Who the fuck gave a shit about Nasty Boys, Val Venis and Orlando Jordan in 2010? Two of those acts were probably even remembered by casuals.

Why make Eric Young look like a jobber by being fooled by The Band, then lose to Nash in a squash match to end the 'feud'. Not exactly putting him over. Considering he had a decent run as heel in 2009, this is a near burial.
