Advertising, and the current state of wrestling, if both was great, TNA would be getting better ratings no doubt.

Because product does not equal ratings.

Product got nothing to do with viewers. TNA has a better product than WWE but WWE still beats them in ratings.

I have read in lot of forums, where people have left watching a product when they had to chose between the two, I stopped watching RAW post Hell In A Cell, now I only read the dirtsheets for WWE. So there would be too many fans (especially casual), who chose between WWE/TNA

Then again, I maybe wrong as I have started watching Impact Wrestling only after the AnE story started
2008
RAW - 3.27
Impact - 1.06

2012

Only one exception and I really can't explain it.
2011 was one boring year for TNA, they only made the product decent around BFG time.

1.09 Average rating so far this year. I believe it can only go up with TNA travelling on the road.

2011 was one boring year for TNA, they only made the product decent around BFG time.
At the very least, they've stayed above 1.0 for the most part since prior to 2008 (meaning that they have roughly 1.5 million viewers (give or take 100K) that have continued watching them in that time - in the US alone --- and that's not counting DVR viewership or Internet viewership in the US (which itself has been the most rapidly increasing form of viewership for everything in the last several years)), and they broadcast in over 119 other countries that are not counted in these ratings (and now they are currently putting forth their best storylines/booking (consistently)). I'd say they are doing quite well for a company that is not labeled as WWE (thus people shouldn't be quite as concerned about their ratings). That said, I'd still like to see their viewership go up even more. Obviously the main points made for the inability to go up much higher ratings-wise are that they are on Spike (which might be rebranded later in the year - which itself might lead to increased viewership), the night they are on (seeing as most people are more likely to be home and watching TV earlier in the week - would be cool if they tried a Wednesday episode on July 3 - with a replay the next night), and people not being aware that they have finally left the IZ (as being on the road is a better visual than the IZ hands down, and some that think they are still there - probably wouldn't be as inclined to check out the current product). If even one of these things changes in the coming months, I'd say they have a pretty good shot at increased viewership.

As good as TNA is, I can't see another boom period for a "traditional" wrestling show.

In fact, the only success I can really see happening is if a promotion like Chikara got backed by someone with deep pockets. If they were putting on a show in a decent venue (even though we scoffed at it for TNA, somewhere like the Impact Zone would work for Chikara), and had a televised show on Saturday mornings (aimed squarely at kids) I can see it doing brilliantly - it would be like "real-life" Power Rangers or Ninja Turtles - there's be action figures, comics etc. I can really see a huge market for that kind of show.

But the more traditional WWE/TNA type shows with more of an adult orientation? I can't see it.
