Well, technically you are totally wrong. Now lets take a look on that.
TNA in 2008 had an average rating of 1.06
TNA in 2009 had an average rating of 1.14

if we average the ratings 2008-09 we will get -

1.1 Average ratings for 2008-09.

But TNA in 2010 had an average rating of 1.06
and TNA in 2011 had an average rating of 1.17

averaging them gives 1.115 average ratings for 2010-11.

So, just read and gather some facts before you post.

Furthermore, TNA in 2012 had just 1.01 average rating.

TNA in 2009, 2010, 2011 was pure gold. But they just lost every bit of edge in their product with the new creative group.

They aren't providing a product new viewers want to watch. Crippled 80s star Hulk Hogan feuding with WWE midcarders from 10 years ago is hardly the seeds for a boom period is it?

Let me ask the 'its the channel' apologists a question:

If TNA was DROPPED TOMORROW. What network do you think will REALISTICALLY pick them up? What time slot will they be given? Do you HONESTLY believe the rating will spike by a full point or two and if so, please give the number.
Wrong. You've not read what I said.

Spike isn't a top 25 network. Nobody would pick TNA up primarily because they've been languishing on a shite network. If spike goes through with the rebranding and are able bump up their overall viewership that will help TNAs viewership and make them more attractive to other networks. You trying to avoid giving spike any of the flak is ridiculous. They need to take some of the blame aswell as TNA.

that was for the much advertised return of sting though after months out, they did the same viewership for the much advertised return of hogan over the summer as well, so we know tna can pop a decent number for an advertised return of a big name

i expected the post lockdown show to do alot better than it did because it seemed the company had momentum, the april 11th show i expect to do good numbers because its basically a free ppv which they are building

tna had a massive chance to capitalize on ufcs success when they were redhot and on spike between 2008-10, i don't see an opportunity like that presenting itself again

The whole 'they need a better network' meme is something TNA apologists have said for years along with TNA needing a better time slot, star power, 2 hours, etc. All of this has happened over the years and the ratings have remained constant and loyal overall.
Doesn't mean all 90 million homes tune in to Spike. We don't watch 90% of the cable channels we get. The ONLY time Spike is on in this house is when TNA is on. TNA needs a better network that most of those 90 million people actually watch.

Re: TNA the best wrestling product but not getting the ratings - why?

The days of "big ratings" are over in wrestling. The term "wrestling" has evolved around one flagship company and that is the WWE regardless if their product now suffers. The last generation of fans when wrestling was at its peak is making one last breakthrough and will always focus their attention on the Royal Rumbles & Wrestlemania's of the year and leave the rest of the viewing audience to the fans of what the product brings in (kids.)

TNA is the alternative. A wrestling company just now making breakthrough on the road. Still, the majority of the audience basically only knows of one flagship company, so why watch an alternative to the flagship company in WWE when WWE is considered WRESTLING to today's standards. The business has severely lost its competitive edge. What is left of the wrestling fan to bring in a new set of eyes to the product? There's no need to waste time on 2 wrestling shows when one is considered the grandaddy of them all.

TNA will grow and people may take notice sooner or later, but competition is dead in the industry and I don't see the ratings jumping anytime soon for either company other than the big advertised PPV's. Everything has been said and done and most fans just wait around for the Wrestlemania's and the Royal Rumbles anyway to see what past character could show up or what crazy spot is lurking around the corner.

Other than that, we won't see wrestling reach the level of the past, and sadly TNA will suffer from a ratings standpoint because iMPACT Wrestling is a GOOD SHOW. That doesn't mean they can't get better. Build on it, put on good shows, work hard and maybe the ratings will increase ever-so-slightly. In today's world, that would be an accomplishment.

Re: TNA the best wrestling product but not getting the ratings - why?

I think one part is the commentary. A great commentator can draw in an audience. I've seen where their ratings went up a 1.3 due to interest only for TNA storylines turn them away. So that has something to do with it.
