Some updates from Meltzer

-Per the terms of the settlement Daffney is, in fact, prohibited from saying she got a financial settlement, she just has to say it was concluded amicably, hence why she's being so vague on twitter. Of course, this doesn't make any sense since everyone basically knows she got money out of it, but I assume it's a legal thing.

- No one would say the exact figure, but the belief is she got "significantly more" than the $26,000.

Meltzer was also asked on WOR if TNA are now going to start paying people's medical bills, and he said he didn't know. He admitted that TNA guys refusing to go hospital when they get hurt because they can't afford it is still pretty common, even now.

She deserved to be paid, She got f*ckin messed up badly by Abyss at BFG. I would of sued their asses if it was me.

I wouldn't say that it means they knew they would lose it if went to court, more likely they knew it wouldn't save any money to go to court. I would imagine that the cost of going to court is either more than, or close to the same amount that they settled out of court. If it was going to be the same cost, why bother with going to court?

Bullshit. Legal representation is expensive - not just the hours in court, but the hours they spend beforehand reading up on precedent and case law. Billing hours add up quickly. Ms. Spruill is one woman self employed in -- a not particularly lucrative field, at her level. TNA is a company backed by a larger corporation that is known for throwing money around. I'm reasonably sure their legal department could tie her up in paperwork for years.

I personally think it's ridiculous that Daffney was even allowed to bring this to court when she signed an agreement to be an independent contractor. She signed to all of the stuff that she is claiming against; I.E Not being able to work elsewhere that has TV/PPV, that she is responsible for her own healthcare and that she is only used when needed and paid upon appearance. Plus injuries are in the profession.

Not defending the agreement of independent contractors that practically work full time in wrestling, like it's been mentioned it keeps costs down efficiently but in the same light creates an uneven payrate, lack of contracted benefits and irregular schedule. But I don't think TNA should be under scrutiny for creating an agreement that works are legally agreeing to and then when they get hurt try to sue the company. Surely she should've had no rights because she agreed to be an independent contractor.

Just because someone signs a contract, it doesn't give you an excuse to treat them like crap. Legally, that's the case too.

Also: per reports, she was assured prior to taking the Bound for Glory bump that she'd be taken care of if anything happened. That was partly why she agreed to do it despite her initial reluctance.

What an idiot. That's not how thing work. TNA totally fucked her. How can you not see TNA exploited her into signing a contract that was 100% in their favor because the market is so small these days. There is no places to work. TNA are extremely lucky this never went further, because all it takes is for a group of workers to band together and a judge look over the structure of how TNA and WWE deals with their wrestlers and the whole business could be in trouble. WWE could afford it because they are the market leaders and have a huge upside in terms of what to offer disgruntled workers, but TNA would go under if they had to pay a settlement to everyone they employee.

The way TNA is ran leaves a lot to be desired. The fact you can basically refuse to pay someones medical bills after she had her career ended at work and the company didn't provide the correct medical care on the night. I cant see how anyone outside easily pleased fanboys can agree that TNA are in the right here.
