but they could have a different color altogether like ECW had purple

Colour association is important and red will always be associated with Raw. For that reason, blue is a much better choice than red. Sure, it's the same colour as Smackdown, but that's the secondary brand. Having the same colour scheme as the top WWE brand was never a good idea.

Blue is fine, and in fact, it's helped strengthen the brand quite a lot.

Actually, you're entirely wrong. Colour association is incredibly important. It's not really something that fans should worry about, but it certainly means something.

Take Hogan for example. I don't even need to mention his colours and everyone knows exactly what I'm talking about. It helped market him greatly.
