Default Tara: Top 5 Female Wrestlers in the past 20 years?

Yes IMO.

I've watched her since her debut in WWE and she was always (still is) one of my favorites. She's has a great unique look and wicked in-ring skills as well. Plus, I think she's as good or even better now than she's ever been in the past.

Now I know a lot of you that watch Indy or Puro and things like that might disagree (or agree) so tell me where she ranks on your list of top female performers of the last 20 years.

Time Frame: 1993 - 2013

She's a great wrestler, but her legacy will always be tarnished because she has always been booked to be so weak vs lesser female wrestlers. Currently she is doing her best to convincingly job to Velvet Sky. It just looks so one sided when she's in the ring losing to a lesser wrestler like that. She's had to endure that her whole career. Back in the wwe she jobbed to diva's left and right.

So no she won't make any top 5 lists with most fans. She's a hell of a wrestler, but doomed to obscurity for the booking mistakes.

In no particular order
Molly Holly
Alundra Blaze
Bull Nakano
Mickie James
Natalya
Beth Pheonix
Michelle McCool
Layla

All women who are far better then her. That's only counting wrestlers from WWE. But if i were to add female wrestlers from the indies and japan, there would be a hell of a lot more.

Putting me on the spot man.

I don't know if I have a top 5 hard to rank for real, here's a few of my favorites though:

Madison Eagles
Gail Kim
Hamada
Cheerleader Melissa/Alissa Flash
Ayumi Kurrihara(sp?)
Mickie James
Daizee Haze
Serena Deeb
Jessie McKay among others. I haven't seen as much Joshi as I would like to but currently I'm a fan of Act Yasukawa pictured below:

I always thought Jazz was overlooked too people always put Lita and Trish over her but she was a beast man. Victoria was too. I preferred her before kinda slowed down in the ring. I like Tara/Victoria but there's just a bunch of other women who I'd put above her.

Lita & Trish were great. But they're the Rock & Austin of womens wrestling. They happened to have the most charisma, and became the biggest stars, but it doesn't mean they're the best.

What a great way of putting it; I never thought of that comparison before. Dead on. I thought Lita was crap on the mic and as a heel, but the fact that she could do hurricanranas, tornado DDTs, and moonsaults had a lot of mileage with people, including myself. And the Hardy Boyz & Lita stable just took off. Trish, I think, got a lot of credit for going from not being a wrestler at all to being fairly good. And both were attractive. She was also a really good heel with "buns of steel". King's commentary whenever Trish would wrestle kept me laughing.

I agree what people say about Jazz, and about her being a beast (which I love). As for Tara, top five in the past 20 years? I don't know, even if we're just talking WWF/E/TNA. Tara is that chick and I can only hope to be in as good of shape as she is when I'm her age. Hmm... Sooo difficult to pick the top five, especially if we're talking about all women's wrestlers. But what I love about her is that she's still great at her age, disproving Vince's idea that women her age can't be.

My top six (though not in the past 20 years) would be Sara del Rey (love her strongwoman style; would have liked to have seen her in TNA), MsChif (that she's a scientist as well as a wrestler is too cool), Awesome Kong (everything, even her look), Gail Kim (I never feel I'm seeing the same match with her, and I like small women wrestlers), Daizee Haze (same as Gail), and Alissa Flash (same as Sara del Rey, and I loved her look). That's not even taking into account wrestlers outside of North America.

Mrs. Varon would be in my top 20, though.
