Default TNA in Canada

Regardless if you're from Canada or not, anyone think TNA should do this?

Everyone knows how big of a market Canada is for pro wrestling, and how many huge moments they've had in wrestling history(such as screwjob, saturday night raw(largest attendance in Raw history),WM18,Rocks heel promo,HBKs heel promo, among other things)

The thing is though, for such a big market, they rarely get wrestling events anymore.

WWE has held 2 PPVs in Canada since 2006(so in 8 year timespan, only 2 PPVs there). Toronto/Montreal are closer to places like New York and Boston, than Corpus Christie is, yet WWE has 2-3 events there per year, and 1 event in Toronto and Montreal basically every other year.

Not to mention the fact that places like Texas and Florida get multiple WMs in a few year timespan, yet Canada hasn't gotten one in over 10 years.

So anyone think TNA should take advantage of this market right now and have events there? The second TNA shows that they care about Canadian audience, they can easily steal away the WWE fans from there. TNA has Hogan(who Canada loves) and Bobby Roode(who is from Canada) on their roster as well. So they'll have no problem advertising for sure. It'll be huge for TNA if they're able to do this, cause they can draw lots of fans consistently in Canada, get big reactions, and actually steal fans from WWE.

TNA also has Eric Young who is from Canada and Alex Silva who Canada pretends is not from Canada.

They tried it before in canada - They ran the PPV "NO SURRENDER 2008" in canada

Obviously haven't felt the need to go back.

Yeah i think they need to do a cross canada tour.Limited cities and not to big of a venue. Its sad that im a die hard fan and they basicly hardly promoted any event in canada. Hell i had no clue no surrender was in Toronto. I think thats probably why the only times they have come to canada has not been the best.

Like everyone says,Promoting and marketing is probably number 1. They came to some really random small town in BC canada.Which i find insane when they could go to a small venue in Vancouver or Victoria.

If they do it right people will come.

But considering then hardly marketing even a ppv. 3500 is a pretty good turn out.

I definitely agree that bringing Impact Wrestling to Canada would do well for TNA. I'd personally like to see TNA do a month long stint in Canada for Impact Wrestling shows culminating to Slammiversary or BFG being held in Toronto or Montreal. I believe that with the right hype and the right promotion they would end up with a huge turn out for their shows.

I feel like they would try and test waters again with a house show or something. Man i wonder if ill ever see the day of them being in Vancouver.

So they went to a small city in Canada years ago so you assume TNA won't work in Canada today....

Though 3,500 seats sold doesn't seem bad at all, especially in a place where the capacity might be like 5,000 for a wrestling event in the first place.

The problem is TNA and it's talents are stationed fairly far away from Canada so travel gets very expensive. Overall, they haven't drawn well for there house shows in Canada the past few years as they have in the UK so it's a pointless excursion.

House shows are completely different from TV events. If they held actual TV tapings in Canada(where the fans knew for a fact that they'd be seeing those big name people like hogan, sting, roode and so on), it'd sell alot better. Especially if they hold these events in the big name cities like Toronto,Montreal and so on

Maybe Quebec, but definitely not the west coast or Ontario. House shows are the only barometer TNA can use to see if it's worth it to do a show in Canada. I'd even think about doing a campaign in Winnipeg or Regina where there are barely events like this coming in and fairly large populations.
