Long rant about Jeff Hardy w/ spoilers for next Impact.
As you all probably know, Jeffrey Nero Hardy is unable to go to the United Kingdom, due to his drug use and possession. As you also know, Hardy is currently TNA World Heavyweight Champion. One more thing you might know is that TNA is going to the U.K. for 4 weeks, a move which is receiving much praise for TNA. Now, due to his drug possession, Jeff cannot attend these UK shows. In case you don't know, this means there will be 4 television programs without Jeff Hardy. This means, for one month, TNA's Champion is not able to work for the company, or at least show up on TV for four weeks.
Now, due to this, one might think the smartest move, although somewhat unprofessional, would be to quickly change the champion so that they can show up on Live tour. Christopher Daniels was a man who many thought would do this. It made perfect sense, didn't it? I mean, he's 42, not getting any younger but still in his prime, he's entertaining, OVER, it won't be for much more than a month, and he deserves it for all the dues he has paid. One might assume that Dixie Carter's impromptu "this is now a number one contender's match" tweet about the Daniels Vs. Storm match at Genesis was because they had just confirmed that Jeff could not appear for four shows, and they considered it a bad idea to keep their champion off of Television for so long. Daniels and Hardy almost had a mini-feud that seemed like the best way you could book an impromptu transitional championship reign. However, the Charismatic Enigma will retain the belt. This is horrible business. They put Hardy's face on tickets, posters, and everywhere they could, CENTER STAGE to advertise this tour. Then, as they found that Hardy could not tour, they decided to write him off of Television, not by letting him lose the title due to Kaz, or Aces And Eights, or make arguably TNA's best heel look good, but instead, letting him win, and then getting ambushed. Instead, to "make up" for the absence of Jeff, they decided to add in Sting, who was advertised last year as being on "his final UK tour". These are both accounts of false advertisement. TNA could easily be sued for this, and they don't really have an argument against it. This would be another lawsuit against TNA that could be because of Jeff Hardy.
This has nothing to do with Jeff Hardy as a performer. If you want me to talk about his performance, I can, I think he is an above average in-ring performer who is 35, and after his spots and lack of dedication to stay in shape, he won't have that for much longer. He is horrible at promos, in fact, TNA has changed the product enough to do "inner monologues", solely for the purpose of showcasing their champion. This man has had law-suits filed against him for being intoxicated during his in-ring performance, and the fact is that most guys who have been life-long addicts get relapses, even when they try their best not to. Jeff Hardy needed to be champion, so they decided that they should turn Austin Aries, their most talented performer, (This is an opinion, an arguable one, a stupid one would be that he is not top 5 in most talented performers, and that he is not top 5 in overness) who was really popular, to a HEEL, so that they could transition him to a loss to Jeff Hardy at Bound For Glory 2012. None of this should have happened. Jeff should be wrestling in the X-Division, wrestling a match, occasionally cutting a promo, getting fatass dough, but TNA would also be getting the same merchandise sales, and be able to advertise this. However, this is not the focal point of this thread. The focal point is that a convict who cannot leave the country should not be made bigger than the promotion.
TNA lied to us. TNA lied to the UK. TNA is doing the wrong thing by keeping the belt on Hardy. Whether you like Hardy or not, it cannot be denied that a convicted felon's merchandise sales are NOT as important as a small company trying to make itself bigger.
However, if you disagree with me, please state why. I am 100% up for a debate. If you agree, thank you, and maybe, just maybe, if enough people agree, we can TRY to trend something on Twitter during the showings of Impact, or get it known that this behavior is unacceptable.
I have added a poll to this also. Please, for the sake of the poll, try only to vote for one of the two topics, and base it solely off of the question; not whether you disagree with my other statements.
Thanks for reading.
