I probably wouldn't like him if he was taller.

Jet Li 1.68 m

Every wrestling company needs their underdog short guys in the main event. Aries deserves his spot, he earnt it with oodles of talent and personality.

Austin Aries: 5 ft 9 in

Ric Flair: 6 ft 1 in
Steve Austin: 6 ft 2 in
Hulk Hogan: 6 ft 7 in
John Cena: 6 ft 1 in

The other is fucking ripped better than a male body-builder, makes underwear models look bad, who constantly pushes himself to be in better condition every day so he can pursue the profession he loves. OH, BUT THE ONE LAZY FATASS IS TALLER SO HE'S BETTER LOOKING.
I'm sorry but Aries looked like a little boy next Hardy on Genesis. It was a good point by someone here that Aries lost size and maybe that played into it. That visual was not good for Aries.

Roy Nelson could sit on Aries for five but that's not what we are talking about

Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, HBK, Kurt Angle, RVD, Daniel Bryan...long list of guys who were 6 feet and under. AJ Styles, the man who was the face of TNA for years and former TNA World Champion is under 6. And MMA/Pro Wrestling crossover Ken Shamrock was 6 feet tall.

And little guys can and do sell and draw when booked and used correctly.

And that's YOUR opinion, but it does not make you right. The difference is you seem to be touting your opinion as fact or truth. However it appears the majority opinion on here is that nobody cares that he was shorter than Hardy, they seemed to prefer the caliber of Main Event that Aries delivered when given the chance than the fact that he is shorter than everyone else in the upper card. I also read all of about 3 maybe 4 posters opinions that Aries looks small next to Hardy...the hundreds and hundreds of other opinions I read made no mention of the height differential, they were more interested in the actual wrestling match and the quality of the matches they have had.

Pro Wrestling has evolved, and smaller and or more undersized guys have become more and more tolerable and relevant in the main event.

Hulk Hogan put Aries over in a very strong fashion, and not just on Impact but in media interviews as well. CM Punk also put Aries over after he won the TNA World title...two guys who come from different eras and possess two different mindsets towards the business but both recognize that it's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. VKM put a World Title on Daniel Bryan...then put that same Daniel Bryan in WWE Title matches with CM Punk....ON PPV. 5 years ago nobody would have believed that to be possible, but even VKM is evolving with the sport.

Guys who have signed or are going to be working tryouts or dark matches that the WWE is interested in currently : PAC, Generico, Sami Callihan, Adam Cole...all guys under 6 feet tall. Again in case you missed the point, the sport is evolving and size is becoming less relevant.

MMA has played a role in size becoming less relevant in the mindset of just how tough or strong someone truly is and whether they can beat bigger opponents and or become Champions.

Frankie Edgar was shorter than everyone he was facing in the LW division... and was a World Champion. While GSP was shorter than most of the guys he has defended against in the WW division. But they fight bigger than their size indicates. Just like Aries.

Re: If Austin Aries was taller he would look like the next big thing!

Aries is one of the best things going in wrestling, tall or not, he's the kinda' guy that if the company were to get behind him, not just in their business, but in other stuff too, such as chat shows or whatever, and left him to be himself and have control like on TNA shows, he could come across really well with his character, and for TNA and wrestling in general.

He seems like the kind of guy that would be similar to his character, in his attitudes, I feel if TNA done things differently in particular cases like this, he could do really well.

He's short no doubt (maybe 5'6, 5'7, real height) but he is charismatic and the people love him.

Re: If Austin Aries was taller he would look like the next big thing!

I met Aries after an ROH show in NYC, he was in full on heel mode and refused to give my little cousin an autograph, before strutting off down the block. I became an Aries fan that night.

Alright, I found the interview. Austin Aries himself admitted if he was 6 foot tall, he would be the best pro wrestler in the world. He talks about this at around 6:30.

No wonder WWE can never win with everyone because most are just looking for some super technical explanation on why something was not done right.

He's not that much smaller than CM Punk and that guy is doing alright for himself.

Punk may be not be ripped, but he's definitely tall. His height is deceiving, he's easily 6'1" and WAY taller than Aries (lol everytime people call Punk a midget when he's taller than most people calling him that). You don't need to be 6'6"+ to be considered tall enough for beeing a maineventer (Cena himself is also 6'1", so was SCSA), Punks height is enough but Aries lacks that. He's already been TNA champion as a manlet but with a few inches more I'm sure we would have seen a rematch of the pic above maineventing some WWE PPVs.
