Just because there's fewer PPV per year does not mean things will miracluously improve. They've been treating the non-"big" PPVs as throwaways for a long, long while. And the show's creative team is not changing, therefore the entire booking philosophy is not changing at all. The AJ-KazDan fued went on what seemed like FOREVER, and the Aces & 8's storyline is the same thing; a storyline that seems like it goes on forever that progresses no faster than a snail's pace. I cannot see how this changes the Status Quo at TNA. I do not believe this move will improve the show's quality what-so-ever when they always have been booking for the "big" shows and regarding the "little" shows as throwaways.

I can't see this as anything but a huge step backward for TNA. It's slashing potential revenue without really cutting costs. Seriously, how does taping a PPV save money over a live broadcast when you're essentially doing the same thing in both cases?

What the hell happened to taking TNA "to the next level"? I can't help but think that, in reality, TNA is sinking, and at the sheer level they are apparently cutting back, it's sinking fast.

Some versions say he resigned a 2 years contract in 2011 and others say he extended it again in 2012, for all the no fucks given. Hogan this year has actually put some guys over in the mic (aries, roode, morgan, bully, park, etc) unlike sting that gets protected in every way, shape or form.

Question Re: TNA Wrestling Announces Major Changes To 2013 Pay-Per-View Strategy

I'm worried... why doesn't TNA stick with what the fans actually want instead of all this razzle dazzle constant change-it-up break-new-ground BS?

As a wrestling fan I want:
1. Interesting and intriguing storylines that build over a month and then conclude at a PPV.
2. Talented performers who wrestle because they love to do so (most of TNA's roster).
3. Awesome wrestling matches.
4. For the wrestling company to progress forward without messing with the formula that makes sense to me as a fan.
5. To be entertained.
6. Regular PPV events with names I know.

TNA needs to learn that to earn loyalty from fans they must create a consistent product that fans can get to know and love, that has regular themes that deliver consistently. Fans DON'T want the rug constantly pulled from under them. I think I get settled and know - and like - TNA, but then they change everything over again.

I'm getting sick of this constant change and renewal all the time. It's unsettling! Just put on a damn wrestling show and forget all the jazz!

Im not sure why some people think They have been constantly changing. Not much has changed in the companies format at all for events. So those are odd statements. Only things that have changed is some visual stuff and how they do things on Impact Wrestling. Anyways as im a die hard fan.I dont watch most of the ppvs they have. I think this is a good concept. Title it as "One night only" Then always have new sub title names is fun.Having different concepts for the events. Then having ppv for finishing or building feuds.

Im thinking this concept will start on ppv and end up on tv down the road.

im not sure how i feel about this. on 1 hand tna are cutting there ppvs which is a good move imo, but in place of the other ppvs are now goin to be gimmick based taped ppvs? not good imo. if they wanna do that then show the gimmick shows on spike for free, people wont pay $15 to see something thats been taped weeks in advance.

i think they should have cut down to 6 ppvs, 1 every other month. and and the other 6 months have some gimmick specials on friday or saturday on spike.

its a good idea other then having the one night onlys on ppvs after they've been taped.

A great move which separates itself from it's competitors. This move keeps the PPV's fresh and stops the pointless 'B' PPV format, particularly with wrestling no longer booming. Having all four on the road will also make the company look major league.

The Gimmick specials should give TNA a great chance at establishing new talent, or reinvigorating existing talent. The X and Knockout divisions should in theory benefit greatly from this move.

It's a ballsy move but I've got to applaud it.

Mayorga on facing Vargas: I'm going to give Vargas the chance to cash his last paycheck. I would like to say publicly that Fatty Vargas has always feared me. I conceded to take this fight at 162 pounds because fatty couldn't lose any more weight. I will do Vargas a favor by retiring him in this fight so his family doesn't have to suffer every time he steps in the ring. I'm going to do his wife a favor and not let her cry anymore.

Would anyone really pay for a taped ppv?

I understand it not being live as impact is live a day before. But I personally wouldnt pay for a taped ppv.

Why does it matter if its tapped. If you like the brand and watch you wont waste your time reading some stupid spoilers.Im pretty sure people that read spoilers is a small percent that dont make up that much.

This is going to be about fun tournaments and concepts and gimmicks. Not about feuds and such.

When they were doing weekly ppvs weren't they taped? If not then I can't agree with it even if they aren't storyline-driven. Other than that this is another positive step in the right direction for being a wrestling alternative. More build/hype/promotion for the big 4. The next 3 needs to be on the road and do the same with Impacts while you're at it.
