They don"t really care about that. They have to provide PPV for foreign network or the ppv company so they can't just do 4 PPV.

They are giving a reason to watch it. THE WRESTLING. If they have an awesome match or two on the show, you're not just gonna care for who won, you're gonna care to watch how awesome the match is. They're gonna be bringing in talents from outside TNA as well. If spoilers come out that the matches were awesome, people would want to watch it. It's at an affordable price too for both casual fans and internet wrestling fans alike.

Also I don't know if you understood this or not, these are purely wrestling PPVs. None of the storylines on Impact will carry onto these shows.

Re: TNA Wrestling Announces Major Changes To 2013 Pay-Per-View Strategy

The specials sound interesting, but there are 2 major flaws in them: They are taped months in advance, so its going to be impossible to stay spoiler-free, and because of this large gap we already know that they dont have any 'storylines' that fit in with current continuity of the TV Show. So basicly they are just PPVs with 'dream matches', and these typically only target the diehard wrestling fans, i doubt a casual fan will be interested in them. I'm afraid that these specials are going to look like the usual lowbudget iPPVs that pretty much every indy company has nowadays. For example, how will the ECW-themed special stand out from iPPVs by CZW or ExtremeReunion (other than somewhat higher production values) ? Or the Knockouts-themed show, how will they stand out from the SHINE iPPVs?

Although personally i love the idea of having some themed specials, i just dont see them being able to make much money out of this. I really hope that these specials will eventually become 3-hour (free) tv specials.

I always liked the TNA World X-Cup so I'm glad to see it return. The TNA 10 Reunion sounds good and it'll be good to see some familiar faces back, as well as the return of the six sides. Hopefully they can bring back some former Knockouts for Knockouts Knockdown. I'm not to fussed about another ECW reunion but overall I like TNA's new direction with their PPV schedule.

Not bothered by the ECW one but the other nights sound great!

TNA has a weird mix going on at the moment. Possibly the greatest roster of any wrestling company on one side and someone there really pushing innovative concepts and interesting formats on the other.

Yet between these two extremes of excellence, the storylines and writing have been awful (Claire Lynch, Aces and 8s, Brooke/Bully etc). If they could get all facets of the company firing on all cylinders, they would really be on a roll.

So now PPV matches will actually mean something which is a good thing.

If done right anyway.

Re: TNA Wrestling Announces Major Changes To 2013 Pay-Per-View Strategy

Okay so to clear up what has happened here and respond to this thread.

1.) This was a business move. It costs much less to tape a show than it is to run it live. So taping 7 PPVs a year will save TNA a lot.

2.) These PPVs are not on Friday. They will be on everyday. The PPVs will debut on Friday and run on demand for the month. This is a similiar concept to what TNA already does with the Unfinised Business series. These on demand ppvs will be $15.

3.) The PPVs are called One Night Only because the concept X-Travaganze, World Cup, Knockout Tourney are One Night Only.

Great Business move by TNA. It'll save them money by producing 7 taped PPVs instead on of 7 live ones and may even bring in some new fans who are willing to pay $15 anytime of the day for the on demand PPVs.

Re: TNA Wrestling Announces Major Changes To 2013 Pay-Per-View Strategy

I doubt the hardcore/ECW one will actually be a full-on ECW reunion like the first Hardcore Justice was. The way it sounds they'll just bring in a few of those guys and have them face off/team with TNA talent which doesn't sound too bad depending on how many they bring in and who they are.

As for the new format, they could have done things a little differently but a change was necessary so we'll have to wait and see if this works out for them. It's a step in the right direction at least.

Its fantastic.

Can't believe TNA is finally going to 4 major PPVs.

Just great news.

The specials sound like fun too and for $15 it really doesnt matter because that is dirt cheap.

The taped Hardcore Justice 2 PPV won't be strictly an ECW style reunion show. The show will feature some faces from ECW, and be much like the X-Division themed shows, where they bring back a select few names from the past.
