Re: TNA Wrestling Announces Major Changes To 2013 Pay-Per-View Strategy
The specials sound interesting, but there are 2 major flaws in them: They are taped months in advance, so its going to be impossible to stay spoiler-free, and because of this large gap we already know that they dont have any 'storylines' that fit in with current continuity of the TV Show. So basicly they are just PPVs with 'dream matches', and these typically only target the diehard wrestling fans, i doubt a casual fan will be interested in them. I'm afraid that these specials are going to look like the usual lowbudget iPPVs that pretty much every indy company has nowadays. For example, how will the ECW-themed special stand out from iPPVs by CZW or ExtremeReunion (other than somewhat higher production values) ? Or the Knockouts-themed show, how will they stand out from the SHINE iPPVs?
Although personally i love the idea of having some themed specials, i just dont see them being able to make much money out of this. I really hope that these specials will eventually become 3-hour (free) tv specials.
