I know there are people who think like that, I just thought that it was limited to children and those with special needs. That Joe poster seems reasonable enough so I was fairly suprised that he would have that mentality.

As long as there's a meaty angle (even Kurt and his moonsaults, hello Shep) leading to some decent in ring action then I'll watch it, time permitting. I couldn't give a fuck about the name on the apron.

Pretty much. Wrestling is wrestling in my book. Every company might not be the same, but I'll tune in if the product is good/fun/entertaining etc. No real surprise to anyone there.

Back then you had to choose because Nitro and RAW were going head to head. Of course as a hardcore wrestling fan I would try to see both but the casual audience didn't.

ps: that "rival spirit" was indeed alive during the monday night wars and is lacking in today's era.

You're telling me about that "rival spirit" as if I never lived through the Monday night wars. I'm fully aware of what it was like because I was 11 in the Spring/Summer of 98 (when the competition was at its hottest) and most of my friends had the same mentality as you. The only thing that I could say in their defence was that they were children at the time (not sure if they 'choose sides' now). I just find it difficult to understand how a rational adult can think like that, but then I suppose that the majority of wrestling fans are morons and shouldn't be judged as 'grown ups' in any way.

As for having to choose between shows because Raw and Nitro were on at the same time? My parents invested in this wonderful invention called the VHS tape recorder

Why are you guys taking this as a opportunity to put yourselves over as "pure" wrestling fans? There was a COMPETITION going on, there's nothing wrong with that.
So a rational adult can't enjoy watching two wrestling promotions giving their all every week for viewership? da fuck...

So you're changing your stance now? First off it's 'you were either on WWF's team or WCW's team' then it's 'So a rational adult can't enjoy watching two wrestling promotions giving their all every week for viewership?', those are two contradictory statements right there.

There was a competition going on but it didn't mean that you had to indefinitely choose one side over the other. Like I said before there's nothing wrong with having preferences, but being an 'A-lister' (as they say on here) for either side is just silly and childish.

...and lol at you saying that I'm trying to put myself over as a pure wrestling fan, what the fuck? I'm a mark like every other person on here (regardless of what they think), just a more casual one these days.

It's childish to choose a product over another one?
I'm speaking in the general sense and no, not every single wrestling fan taped both shows. Most were indeed in either "WWF's team or WCW's team"... or even ECW's team.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, silly is calling all those people idiots because they felt emotionally invested in company A or B.

If you think that denying yourself the opportunity to watch hours of quality programming due to some short sighted loyalty isn't silly then maybe I misjudged you when I said that you were reasonable enough? Yes, yes I did.

To be honest I don't think that you really believe what you're writing and you're just clinging on to your silly notion for the sake of a pissing contest. The fact that you've backtracked with contraditions while throwing out random misguided accusations says it all.

Wrestling fans of the 90's must have been really thick if they couldn't even comprehend taping the other show. Don't even try and tell me that tape recorders were expensive back then in an attempt to back up your point otherwise I'm going to lose my mind

Yeah, I don't think that loyalty bs fits. How many times could you see fans on RAW wearing nWo shirts or Austin shirts on Nitro? A lot. Fans enjoyed the hell out of the biz regardless who was delivering. You have to think that was the mindset of every fan. (or you'd hope nobody was dumb enough to shun out one promotion) Even as a kid I watched any wrestling promotion I would find. That's not being a "pure wrestling fan" either. (what the hell does that even mean) Just a guy who loves wrestling with a passion to watch it all.

Terrible argument.
