If TNA hadn't fucked Anderson's character

Would he still be a major player?

He had momentum and was a crowd favourite until that ridiculous face-heel-face turn within about two weeks which made his character untenable.

Was just watching a few of his old promos on youtube and forgot how good he was before all that happened, he was actually very funny. He might have got stale anyway, but RVD is as popular as ever and he hasn't changed a bit in fifteen years so who knows?

edit: not sure if I can swear in the title, tried to edit it but I can't

TNA didn't fuck Anderson's character, ANDERSON fucked Anderson's character.

It's pretty well established that the bigger performers have a lot more creative freedom than they would in the "other" organisation and essentially Anderson is in a rut, because he has become stale through doing the same thing every week.

Look at it this way: If he's on the show every week, after a year, you've seen the same guy come out and do minor variations on the same microphone gimmick FIFTY TWO times (plus 12 more for PPVs).

The best thing for Anderson right now is to be written off-screen for a decent amount of time (maybe even until Lockdown), and either come back as a full-on babyface or full-on heel as the culmination of a big "mystery person" storyline. Tweener Anderson doesn't work for me really.

agree with this

he is a perfect fit for WWE as he would have tightly scripted promos again and is charasmatic enough to deliver them with his catchphrases and be over but just doesn't work for him in TNA

Anderson is a product of the WWE that's why he doesn't work in TNA

I enjoyed watching him being choked by Samoa Joe.

While I think TNA have dropped the ball with Anderson a couple of times now. most of the blame has to be pointed at Anderson himself. When he first started in TNA I really enjoyed watching him week in week out. but after he started wrestling the better guys on the roster you started to see that his wrestling was not as good as everybody first though it was and the appeal started to fade fast. since then Anderson has gone from bad to worse and has only managed two good matches in the last year and in my opinion that was only because his facing AJ and Angle.

Re: If TNA hadn't fucked Anderson's character

It's easy to see when you watch Anderson that he does whatever he's asked. He has never come over as a strong character whether face or heel. When he joined Immortal he got Bully over because he became his bitch. He's been RVD's bitch, Sting's bitch etc etc. He's never been that Triple H type heel or Steve Austin type face that could go in and kick everyone's ass.

The guy is good at getting others over and doesn't seemed to have ever turned down the idea, which he may have been better off doing (look at last week how weak he let himself look against Joe.)

Anderson is meant to be a heel and meant to be on his own, that's when he's at his best.

He gets put to sleep by Joe two weeks ago and then last week he once again gets buried by Bully Ray as he lay on the ground after the Aces & 8s attack, how is a face suppose to gain momentum from that? Hopefully this leads to a heel turn and Anderson can finally get back on track.

Also, the guy was off TNA programming for six months because "creative had nothing for him" and they were trying to develop/get over Aries/Roode/Storm/Bully at the time so their is more then meets the eye.

Anyway, turn the guy heel and give him a chance.

Here this feud would be good for both guys as both have been pretty stagnant:
(babyface) Aj Styles vs (heel) Mr. Anderson <----- would you really not want to see that? Anderson could do a great job of shooting AJ back into singles relevance and getting back his bad guy persona.
