Well yeah the Angle Slam doesn't really finish people off these days but the move should at least have an affect. The ending to that match was terribly done and the OP has a great point.

You try to make everyone look good for years by kicking out of several angle slams and five minute ankle locks, this is where you eventually end up
its why wrestlers and finishers need to be protected by booking. otherwise they become a joke and it really fucking hard to have people take them seriously again

The only example in TNA where a finisher is protected is Austin Aries' brain bustaaah. To this day, the only person to have kicked out of it is Alex Shelley at against all odd but other than that it's been clean 1,2,3s
