What would your reaction be if TNA turned PG?

I don't think content-wise it would be much different than what it is right now because TNA rarely has blood or any graphic violence of that sort and their language for the most part is clean as well, and even the occasional "ass" is bleeped out. There really isn't much on the show that makes it warrant a TV-14 rating. Maybe TNA could push the fact that their programming is more family-friendly without really changing their programming much anyway.

Tears... ;) I believe it would lead to a huge downfall; like we've seen with the E and their boring product nowadays. In my opinion, although it doesn't seem like it'd be too much of a difference right now, the introduction of PG would gradually help degrade the product.

PG isn't the issue it is bad writing and over exposure.

I don't think he would mean much to TNA.

How? The product right now is pretty much PG anyway. Maybe turning PG would be better for TNA's image for sponsors and potentially interested networks in the future. Can't really compare to WWE because their writing is poor and their characters are weak, and some of that also has to do with Linda's campaign, and WWE have to be really careful about their storylines and stuff.

Personally, I wouldn't care. To me, WWE's problem is that it it PG. Its problem is that they think PG has to equal dumbed down lazy writing. And lets be honest, TNA was horrible in 2010 & 2011, and WWE post Attitude Era (while still TV-14) really sucked at times. Also, WCW, the cutting edge product that revolutionized wrestling, was basically still a PG product in 96-98 and that was the creative & financial high for the company. They sunk like a rock when they went more raunchy (and even before then because the writing was stupid).

To me, it is all about how you write it and how you execute it. You want to be PG? Fine by me. You want to be raunchier than that? Go for it. But it has to be smart writing with strong characters that I can buy into and you have to make me excited to see these matches they have.

I would stop watching. PG limits the storylines, the matches and characters. Of course, bad writing is the main factor for WWE being dull, but PG (and WWE is more like G nowadays) is not meaningless to the quality.

You can't compare it to PG WCW days (wrestling was at its peak back then, the internet didn't really exist) or pre Attitude PG WWE days (they still had blood & more swearing than nowadays). Also TV-14 wasn't established in these eras.

TNA has to do everything to not be a WWE ripoff. TNA won't get better ratings, if they start catering to kids. I guarantee that. The little kids have their WWE, they won't watch minor league.

It's not really about catering to kids. It's about assuring the audiences that you can bring your families to our show. Whether you've realised it or not, the product is already PG. Storm would appeal to a younger demographic as well, and Jeff Hardy already does. Roode is the kind of heel that kids would just hate, as is Bully Ray. No one or nothing right now really crosses the line in terms of being more adult-oriented. It's a pretty clean show.

It is and it's something I dislike about 2012 Impact Wrestling. Prefer the edgier red TNA brand. The thing is: They can go edgier when they want it, because the show is still officially TV-14.

One question: Why is wrestling supposed to be a family show nowadays? I got interested in pro wrestling when I wasn't allowed to see it (I was around 12 when I started watching the attitude). An "edgy" and not "clean" program interests the older kids more than something has been made to cater them as the minority of the audience (this is exactly what WWE does).
