Default Muhammed Lawal

what do you all think of Muhammed Lawal? i think he will be big as hell as soon as b.f.c. gets on spike tv if he wins the b.f.c. and the tna title i think it will be all over espn.

some pr from last night i think more will come http://www.newsday.com/sports/mixed-...pact-1.4076495

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal is enjoying the perfect intersection of two careers.
Lawal, a former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, signed a contract earlier this year that will allow him to participate in mixed martial arts under the Bellator Fighting championships brand, and in professional wrestling under the Total Nonstop Action Impact brand.
Both promotions are affiliated with Viacom, which will shift Bellator from MTV 2 to Spike TV, which broadcasts "Impact," in January.
The dream scenario for Lawal follows a nightmarish chain of events.

He failed a drug test for performance-enhancing drugs, and made inappropriate comments on Twitter about the subsequent hearing. As a result, Strikeforce -- which is owned by the Ultimate Fighting Championship's parent company, Zuffa LLC -- released Lawal from his contract.

"It's the best thing that happened to me in two ways," he said. "First of all, you say anything bad or you speak your mind over there, you get the beat-down. Everyone turns on you ... And two, they let me go. Hey, I'm in a better place. I'm in a way better place."
Lawal cannot make his in-ring debut for Bellator until January, when the drug suspension ends. But his "Impact" debut comes this week as a special enforcer selected by Hulk Hogan.
"I'm very anxious," Lawal said. "I'm very nervous about it and very excited. ... Now I have a chance to be a champion of some sort in TNA Impact wrestling."
Lawal, whose over-the-top personality inspired thoughts of pro wrestling earlier in his MMA career, said the transition to the scripted world of "Impact" is more difficult than it appears.
"Some people just think, 'You're going to be good at it because you have a personality.' Well, there are a lot of people with personality that can't pro-wrestle. You have to go there and learn the best you can and translate it live on TV like these guys do."
Lawal's two worlds intersected last month during Bellator's media day at Universal Studios. Several wrestlers stopped by to say hello and offer a quick word of encouragement.
"It's not easy," Lawal said. "I had a tryout in 2004. Granted, I picked it up, but there (are) little tricks and a lot of technique involved ... You have to tell a story, and the story has to pull together with the climax and the finish. ... There's an art to this."

Well I can easily see him winning the Bellator LHW title, Bellator isn't really known for having great fighters (except for Lombard who left for the UFC, and Alvarez who's rumored to be on his way out). It should be interesting to see how Bellator does on Spike because honestly nobody really gives a fuck about Bellator, however taking UFC's spot on Spike could do wonders for them.

Now as for winning the TNA title... no... please no... or at least not until 2014-2015 once he can actually wrestle a match without being carried.

I'm looking forward to seeing his actual wrestling skills. He proved he can do it in MMA ring, now can he do it in pro wrestling ring?

Bellator fighters are garbage. King Mo will dominate the light heavyweight division and he could even go up a weightclass and mop the floor with the heavyweights too. I don't know if hardcore MMA fans will like the TNA/Bellator thing, but it will help both promotions I think.

He was nervous as fuck, you can see that by his body language.
That's really weird because the guy is very relaxed in front of the press, I guess he realized the wrestling business isn't something you do on the weekends.

I predict King Mo (as well as Kenny King) will be breakout stars in 2013 and TNA will finally reach the next level.

Btw, 9QA, I really like your threads and avatar, keep em coming.

If your talking about him training for MMA, he's basically leaving after BFG and an MMA training camp is usually 8 weeks and then he's fighting for bellator in January. So he'll be training MMA from NOV-Jan and after that he'll return to OVW, but depending on whether he wins or loses, he'll have to fight like 3-5 months after january and he's going to need another 8 weeks training camp for that next fight... so he's really not going to be putting a lot of concentrated time in OVW.

Stuff like this is what's keeping the wrestlers down these days.
The wrestlers should be portrayed as the bigggest, baddest and meanest guys out there.

By bringing in people outside of wrestling and portraying them as badder than the wrestlers, is just like shooting yourself in the foot.
Yet TNA (and I guess WWE) continues to do this, again and again. From TNA we've had King Mo, and there was a football player (I think he was) two weeks ago backstage to help Hulk Hogan take on the Aces and Eights. And then we had this guy from Jersey Shore (the show) that went after Robbie E. And on the on the road show from North Carolina last year there was another football player that went after Kurt Angle, and got over...

Why do they keep doing this? Can't they see that the short term celebraty pop they're getting actually buries the wrestlers??

I never saw anything like this from Jim Crocket Promotions back in the NWA days...
