Re: Aces & Eights Discussion Thread
If the audience was eating up A&8s surely numbers would've increased before now. This is, I believe, the first time TNA have pulled a number significantly above 1.0 since August. It's a little too coincidental that "A&8s pulled a good number" on the night of Sting's return.

Actually, the highest rating segment of impact in 2012 was the first aces&eights vs tna roster fight and the second one was the claire lynch saga finale.

I just can't see what TNA can do to refresh this angle without calling a mulligan. We've seen the A&8s beat everyone up, in a variety of ways. The problem is that they simply don't have a guy to cut THAT promo or wrestle THAT match. There's no way to really get people talking because these guys are beat-down specialists, and it's not like those segments have been gripping.
They need an Ambrose or Rollins. Someone that you can point to and say, "yeah that guy's going places". Without that, or a prominent member from the current roster, I just don't see how they can grab attention anymore. They've done everything that a no-name group of rebels without a cause can do.

Its very sad that you take that as anything significant. A one off rating featuring the return of Hulk Hogan which they'd built up for a fortnight prior isn't anything to right home about. With the amount of TNA time they have been given, they should have justified more than the odd rating spike every few months.
The fact is, if this storyline was working Bound For Glory wouldnt have done the worst buyrate in years. Nobody cares about it at all.

There isn't constant growth because wrestling keeps putting out a mediocre product. And once again, this is just one number. If the audience is "eating up" the angle then it would consistently do better ratings then the other angles. So far, it's just done average ratings, which imo is what the angle is.

Re: Aces & Eights Discussion Thread
They need a big reveal fast. The angle is treading water and it's all but lost its early momentum. I'd also have Knox and Gallows tear through multiple members of the roster in one night. You don't get the sense Ace and 8's are trying to kill TNA.

Mayorga on facing Vargas: I'm going to give Vargas the chance to cash his last paycheck. I would like to say publicly that Fatty Vargas has always feared me. I conceded to take this fight at 162 pounds because fatty couldn't lose any more weight. I will do Vargas a favor by retiring him in this fight so his family doesn't have to suffer every time he steps in the ring. I'm going to do his wife a favor and not let her cry anymore.

Re: Aces & Eights Discussion Thread
TNA has dragged this angle on too long without revealing anyone that, I'd say, the majority of fans care about. Mike Knox, Luke Gallows, great, but last time I saw them, they were jobbing in WWE.
TNA also hasnt done anything to build up Wes Brisco. We've seen him in a couple of matches and he looked sloppy, in my opinion. The rest of the time he is being shunned by Kurt Angle or standing backstage nodding his head.
Its pretty sad when the most memorable member of Aces & Eights is Devon. If one good thing came from this though, I actually don't change the channel now, when Devon is on.
