Pretty much and the fact the group is so tagged with failure and lack of momentum and any kind of traction, if you put someone like Jay Bradley or a Cliff Compton with them they will be immediately known as "that shitty Aces and 8s guy" to anyone unfamiliar with their work.

At first I thought you were going to say something like they'll be around for a year or something, but a couple of years? That's a bad thing? Some of them might not last but I can see DOC and Mike Knox doing well. As for the others, well i'll wait until they're all revealed.

It is in TNA. They are still trying to get Herndanez and Morgan over and they've been around a good 7 years each.

Although in fairness Knox and Gallows are both 50 times better than those two so they are have far more of a chance.

Re: Aces & Eights Discussion Thread

Meanwhile the aces and eights heavy show (which I hated) got impact the best rating in a while.
The failure in my/our eyes is being celebrated in TNA's headquarter in this exact moment, if given the right place and time, knox will be on TNA for more than a couple of years.

The reason why we don't get fresh ideas and promotions rising in American Pro Wrestling is because the majority of the community is happy with the same old shit and will reject any chance of change. There is a risk in doing new things, 9 times out of 10, it leads to 50+ pages of bitching and moaning. While business gets turned into a dictatorship and more and more out of touch. Support the indies, support New Pro Wrestling.

Because they promoted Stings comeback for weeks.

"Sting's return" has been promoted every year since 2005 and if the aces&eight was such a failure nobody would even care about sting coming back for revenge. The story FAILS HARD in storytelling but the casual eat it up... sad but true.

You are talking like TNA scored massive rating last night. If did slightly above what they usually get. It was from shit to less shit. Sting coming back added an extra few thousand viewers like it was expected to do. Stings returns usually do well in the short term. Standards are so low when it comes to TNA rating you would hardly call that a success, though.

What story are you talking about by the way? Are we talking about the same thing? What casuals are eating this up? What casuals are there? What criteria are you using.

Meh. Unless it shows a consistent growth this means nothing. If one looks at the history of TNA's ratings there have been angles that usually didn't do well in the ratings but then had a great quarter or night. The Aces & 8s have been in TNA for months and there have been several big moments for them, yet the ratings haven't increased. Now, I wouldn't say there are to blame for TNA's recent decrease in ratings, but they've done nothing to help. So if the quarter ratings come out and show Aces & 8s did well, I wouldn't put much stock in them until they consistently show they can increase ratings.

Re: Aces & Eights Discussion Thread

I think we can put a huge fail mark by the Aces and 8s concept now.

1) They have been used as jobbers in TNA
2) The members are not world shattering ie Devon, The Doc and Mike Knox.
3) No main eventer attached to this stable
4) Using Devon as the mouth piece is def no no
5) No one knows what they want or even cares now.

A very good concept ruined by TNA.

Devon and Doc should never have been members.

If TNA had exchanged them for James Storm and Matt Morgan, Joey Ryan and Jesse G then they would have a good concept but at the moment Aces and 8s are dying on feets.

Re: Aces & Eights Discussion Thread

There isn't "constant grow" in wrestling ratings anymore, you guys are talking like this is the 90's and ROH is getting 5.0's because it has good rastling. In 2013, this is a good rating for TNA... and the fact they didn't get these numbers when they were hot and constant (summer) proves the majority of impact's audience is eating up the aces&eights story.
