Re: Final Resolution Discussion Thread
The final card looks better than I thought it would. Still not great as I really hate Feast or Fired, but it looks OK overall.
The problem with this show is that almost everything on the show is a speedbump on the road to something bigger. Rhino vs. Angle is leading to Angle vs. Jarrett II. The 8 Man Tag is leading to AJ vs. Sting II. BMI vs. Abyss/Morgan is a speedbump before BMI faces Team 3D. EY vs. Bashir is a set up for Bashir vs. Sewell. And Feast or Fired is one big set up for future angles & title matches. There are no big payoffs here, but rather middle points in the storylines.
Anyways, here are my thoughts and predictions:
ODB, Taylor Wilde, & Roxxi vs. The Beautiful People & Sharmell
Thank God they added BP, Wilde, & Roxxi to the mix. That match would have been a disaster other wise. Now it will be at least watchable. I'm going to pick the faces to win this one, not that it really matters, but it'd be nice for a Frontline member to get a win over the Mafia, even if it is the girls.
Sheik Abdul Bashir (c) vs. "Showtime" Eric Young: X Division Championship
I hope EY wins just to get the belt off Bashir so the eventual Sewell vs. Bashir match isn't for the X Title. Why do they keep assigning Sewell to Bashir's matches? Its obvious that there is a problem between the two so why would TNA Managment just make the problem worse by constantly having them together. Anyways, this should be a solid match and I'll pick EY to win the title, and a post match fight between Sewell & Bashir occuring as a result.
Awesome Kong (c) vs. Christy Hemme: TNA Knockout Championship
This might sound crazy, but I think this might be the surprise hit of the show. Impact did a pretty good job of hyping the match last minute, and I'm kind of excited to see how Christy does. She might flop, but I think she's going to try very hard, and she's willing to take a severe beating, so I think this match might be a pleasent surprise. Kong is going to win, but I expect them to try and put over Christy big with this match.
Beer Money Inc (c) vs. Abyss & Matt Morgan: TNA Tag Team Championship
Like I said before, this seems to be just a speedbump before 3D faces BMI. However, this should be at least a solid match. BMI will definately retain. The biggest hint is in the spoilers for the New Year's show (go read them if your curious)
Homicide, Hernandez, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Jay Lethal, Petey Williams, Consequences Creed, Sonjay Dutt, Curry Man, Shark Boy, Jimmy Rave, Lance Rock, BG James, & Kip James: Feast or Fired Match
I hate this match. I really do. Its my major problem with the PPV. Not only is it a dumb gimmick match, but you have LAX, The Guns, & most of the X Division all crammed into one match. It really takes away from the undercard. But I've babbled enough about how much I hate this match. My predictions:
- Curry Man will get one of the cases: Either the World Title case or the Fired Briefcase. Which ever one he gets, it will lead to him becoming Christopher Daniels again.
- If Curry doesn't get the Fired Case, then it will go to BG James, who hasn't been on TV since August I think.
- If Curry doesn't get the World Title shot, it will go to one of the Frontline Guys: Lethal, Petey, Creed, or one of the Guns.
- LAX will get the Tag Title Shot
- X Title Shot will most likely go to Dutt. He's the only X Guy in the match that isn't in the Frontline.
Double Main Event: "The War Machine" Rhino vs. Kurt Angle: Mick Foley as Guest Enforcer
This outcome of this match is not in doubt. Angle will win as he has to have the hyped up rematch with Jarrett at Genesis. Now my question is who will be in Angle's corner? He promised he'd have somebody and all we know is that its a former World Champion and former tag champion with Mick Foley. Here are the possibilities...
Steve Austin...Oh hell no! Not gonna happen.
The Rock...If he comes to TNA, I swear I'll piss myself, but it won't happen.
Kane...Still working for the WWE.
Al Snow...could be...oh wait, he was never a World Champ.
Terry Funk...he's the most likely candidate. So yeah I think it'll be Funk.
Whatever happens, I do think Rhino vs. Angle will be the match of the night. I don't see how it can't be given the rest of the card.
Double Main Event: Sting(c), Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, & Booker T vs. AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, & Team 3D: TNA World Championship
Not a big fan of the TNA World Title being on the line in a Tag Match. I don't see the title switching hands, so I see the Mafia winning. However, I do think this could be a really good main event. I wish they had gone Survivor Series style make it elimination. Have Mafia eliminate Team 3D early, then have AJ & Joe fight back from 4-2 odds to make it 2-1 with Sting being the only one left. Cheating from the Mafia eliminates either AJ or Joe, and then whoever is left gets screwed by Team 3D who joins the Mafia. It would be perfect. The Original match was MEM vs. AJ, Joe, ???, ???, so the Mafia could have planned for 3D to get on the Frontline's side in order to protect the title.
I do think that 3D will turn and join the Mafia, but will wait and see what happens. Should be a good main event match good action if nothing else.
So overall this card is not as bad as I originally thought it was going to be, but its still TNA's weakest show of the year on Paper by far. The strength of the show will be in the Double Main Event, and like I said, I think Christy vs. Kong might surprise us. Tag & X matches could be good, and the KO tag is alot better than ODB vs. Sharmell 1 on 1 thats for sure. Feast or Fired is the one thing on this show that just bothers the holy hell out of me. Strange that there are only 7 matches, which tells me that Rhino vs. Angle & The 8 Man Tag will both go pretty long, or there will be a long promo segment.
