Re: Official iMPACT! Discussion Thread 10/2 - Foley's iMPACT! Zone Debut
Bound for Glory is coming in just a little over a week while Impact builds towards the big show!
Match 1 - ODB vs. Angelina Love w/Cute Kip & Velvet Sky
As they talked about the 3 Way for the KO title at Bound for Glory, I am very surprised that these two didn't get into the title match themselves. Oh well. This match was solid, with Love getting a win thank heavens.
Winner - Angelina Love via Pinfall
- Funny little segment with ODB & Traci. Its nice to be seeing Traci on TV every week again.
- Great promo segment for Jarrett. I also thought they used the article very effectively, and Jarrett threw things back in Angle's face very well. The Angle interview was also a nice way for Jarrett to get back at him. Setting up Angle's reaction was good.
Match 2 - The Latin American Xchange vs. The Motor City Machine Guns: Monster's Ball Qualifying Match
Damn it Guns! Drop the masks! You look stupid. Anyways, this was a match that people have wanted to see for a while, so its good. This was a good tag team match between two teams that can get it done. LAX got the win and earned their spot in the Monster's Ball. The Guns are obviously turning heel, but I hope they have a plan rather than just doing random bits with them.
Winners - The Latin American Xchange via Pinfall
- Rought Cut for Roxxi = I was glad they talked about what happened at Sacrifice. If there was ever a moment that made Roxxi hardcore, this was it.
- Angle in Cornette's office: TNA Office fines Angle $25,000! Damn!
- Suicide - Who is the voice? That is obviously not Kaz. The promos are pretty cool.
Match 3 - Sheik Abdul Bashir (c) vs. Jimmy Rave w/Christy Hemme vs. "Showtime" Eric Young: X Division Championship Match
Wow, been a while since we've seen the old EY in the Impact zone. This ia a good match to have solidfy Bashir & have him get a successful title defence under his belt. This was a fun and short actioned packed match up, and a good win for Bashir. Nice that they at least acknowledged the crazy referee.
Winner - Sheik Abdul Bashir via Pinfall
- Christian, AJ, Lethal promo = Nice promo segment and its nice to see Lethal along side guys like AJ & Cage.
Match 4 - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, "The Instant Classic" Christian Cage, "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Booker T w/Sharmell & Team 3D
This is a great match to continue the trend of young vs. old. And like I said, its nice to see Lethal interacting with guys like this. This was another good match, and the AJ/Cage miscommunication was actually set up well, and it set up the 3 Way Match which I'm sure will be signed for BFG at this point.
Winners - Booker T & Team 3D via Pinfall
- Angle going crazy backstage was good and a nice running theme through the show.
- Samoa Joe & Sting Point/Counterpoint = They really should have promoted this. It was a good exchange between the two.
- Abyss/Morgan promo = Did Morgan call Abyss "Abby"? Wow. Its nice that they are still promoting Abyss to not use weapons, and you'll probably see him snap in the match.
- Beer Money Inc promo = They should get promo time every week. This was a good segment for establishing that they've basically destroyed LAX. And it was nice to have Team 3D, Morgan/Abyss, & LAX come out and challenge them. Making the Monster's Ball a four way for the tag gold makes that match bigger, and it'll be a damn good one with those teams.
Match 5 - ODB & Rhaka Khan vs. The Beautiful People w/Cute Kip
Interesting that they put Rhaka Khan in there as she's basically unproven in the ring. Its nice that they built her up as somebody worth being afraid of. As far as size goes, she's the one girl that measures up to Kong. She's probably not that good, but they protected her well in this match, and let ODB do most of the work.
What happened after the match is probably setting up for a Mixed Tag at BFG.
Winners - ODB & Rhaka Khan via Pinfall
- Mick Foley's debut in TNA! Great segment to close with. Him taking a shot at Vince was funny. Angle coming out was expected, and the shot he took at Jarrett was really low. It was also great to have Mick Foley stand up for the young guys. Him putting over the WWE guys seemed strange until he pointed out that Angle beat them all, and Foley making himself the Guest Enforcer was a nice thing to end the show with.
Good episode of Impact this week. Not as good as the previous two, but its still heading into BFG pretty well with the big matches getting built well.

Re: Official iMPACT! Discussion Thread 10/2 - Foley's iMPACT! Zone Debut
Really strong prom by Foley. Overall a pretty good show, maybee not as good as the last 2 weeks, but still good. I really hope they have more planned for Foley than just this one match.
