Re: Bound For Glory Discussion Thread
My thoughts and predictions:
MIXED TAG TEAM BIMBO BRAWL
Rhino, ODB, & Rhaka Khan vs. Cute Kip & The Beautiful People
w/Traci Brooks as Guest Referee
- Man oh man, who did Rhino piss off? You'd think this match would go to somebody like Shark Boy. Well since Kip pinned Rhino on Impact (which is damn near unforgivable), I see the faces winning in what will probably be a short match.
STEEL ASYLUM X DIVISION MATCH
- It is impossible to pick a winner in this one since we don't even have a full list of participants. I think its safe to say we can assume the top X Guys like Lethal, Dutt, Petey, & The Guns will be in it. I can also see them upping it to 10 by including the Prince Justice Brotherhood, Jimmy Rave, & Johnny Devine. This should be the opener to the show. Its become somewhat customary for TNA to open up BFG with a X Division match (Joe/Liger, X Gauntlet, Ultimate X) and it could potentially provide a ton of action and lots of fun. But like I said, its a tough call, but I'll go ahead and pick Jay Lethal to win it.
X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Sheik Abdul Bashir (c) vs. Consequences Creed
- I like the pairing from a character standpoint as they are two gimmicks that instantly clash with each other. This could be a sleeper hit. The X Title match has usually delivered as being one of the best matches on the BFG card. Bashir & Creed are relatively unproven. Creed had a great match with Petey at Hard Justice, but for the most part he just seems to be an exciting young talent, while Bashir hasn't been given much match time to really show what he can do. It'll be interesting to see what they deliver at BFG. As for a winner, I'll pick Bashir to retain.
TNA KNOCKOUT CHAMPIONSHIP: TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
Taylor Wilde (c) vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi
- This could be another sleeper hit, and alot of fans really seem to be looking forward to this one. Kong always delivers a good match, and she works very well with Taylor & Roxxi, so it should be at least an enjoyabale match. I'm going to pick Kong to win the title back, and then she will begin a feud with Roxxi where Roxxi will eventually capture the title herself.
TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MONSTER'S BALL MATCH
Beer Money Inc (c) vs. LAX vs. Team 3D vs. Abyss/Matt Morgan
w/Mongo as Guest Referee
- This match has been changed a few times hasn't it? It started out as a Tag Team Invitational, which led me to believe that it would be formatted like Tag Team Turmoil, which would have been neat, but then they made it Monster's Ball. Specifically a 3 Way MB with the winner getting a tag title shot, but then BMI got put in there and it became a 4 way for the tag gold.
I think they are going to go crazy with this one. Team 3D kept talking about glass tables & lighter fluid, and Homicide went on about extreme violence, so I think TNA is going to go all out here. This could be a great hardcore match given the talent involved. I also like this match because it fits in with the Vets vs. Originals thing with Team 3D going up against 3 tag teams made up of TNA Originals. I can honestly see any of the four teams winning it, even Abyss/Morgan. I'll go ahead and pick LAX, but like I said, it can go anyway. This is one of the matches I'm looking forward to the most, mainly because I love LAX, BMI, & Abyss/Morgan have been impressive too.
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
AJ Styles vs. Christian Cage vs. Booker T
- This is a very interesting match, with clear cut good guy/bad guy in AJ & Booker, while Cage is the tweener that could go either way, and that makes the match interesting. I also think this could be a MOTN contender if allowed to be. I'm really looking forward to this one and hopefully it delivers, because I think it is strong both in intrigue and in potential match quality. I'm picking AJ Styles to win it.
TNA GRUDGE MATCH
Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle
w/Mick Foley as Guest Enforcer
Whats with the Guest referees/enforcers on this show? 3 Matches have them. Oh well? Anyways, as far as build up goes, this got the best treatment, and with good reason. Its Jeff's return match, and its two big names in wrestling that have never faced each other before, so it will be interesting to see what Jeff brings to the table. I'm looking forward to this one as well. I think Jarrett NEEDS to win this match. He's making his return, and the hype would almost be for nothing if he didn't get the win over Angle.
TNA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Samoa Joe (c) vs. Sting
- This one might surprise people. I think both guys can give us a great match, but with the stipulation of no rematch, I can only guess who is going to win the belt. On one hand, Joe is the young face, and if he wins over Sting, its a big feather in his cap, and easily the best win of his title run. If Sting wins, it actually extends the Young vs. Old thing by putting the belt on the old guy, setting him up for another TNA original to take the belt (AJ STYLES!!!) So this match could really go either way, and I love that unpredictability. I'm going to pick Sting to win, but I'm not really sure.
Looks like it could be a really strong show, and BFG usually delivers, so hopefully it does again in 2008!
