Re: Official 7/3 iMPACT! Discussion Thread
I'm liking MMG actually winning and getting a streak. I like Storm and Roode. I hate the predictable comedy skits. TNA were doing so well to get rid of them and now its back to stage 1. The X Cup is getting underlooked. Where the fuck is Doug Williams I wana see him ever since McGuinness recommeded me to watch him.
Finally the most annoying thing about this was a question from Tenay at the end "Why is Sting here now?" or words to that effect. Good question Tenay! Why is Sting here? He's old and cant put on any more good matches.

I agree about the roughkut segments. While very interesting in the end they do nothing for the characther at all. I mean I doubt he could in anyway use his basketball past to advance any storyline or anything so yeah while informtive it serves zero purpose as far as pushing the characthers, a feud or anything.

Stuff like Gail/Angelina is good for TV fueds while the Matt Morgan roughkut should be used for TNAwrestling.com. That could be used for every superstar on the roster when going deeper into their background.

Totally agree. The Gail/Angelina thing actually had a real purpose that effected something which is good. Made the match seem important, and adds a story to it. The roughkut stuff as you said should be on their website as it'd be something to attract people to their site cause honestly I have nothing to go there for and haven't in like years now.

I actually like the Rough Cut segments, there not anything earth shattering but I think they atleast do serve some purpose.

The BG & Kip segments built to something.....Matt Morgan's have no point, really should be stuck on his website profile or something - interesting, but just wasting time on Impact IMO.
This Impact overall went back a few steps for mine - it had that random feel of some of the crap we got earlier this year and late last year.....Angle goes on 3 dates - then finally gets a hot one in the ring and blasts her??? Random alert - then Karen comes out by herself to defend her? Random alert. Then half the locker room is brawling about it? Random alert. LAX in "Houston" yet we can see the TNA set and Beer Money's entrance theme in the background...what the hell was the point? Random alert. Sting appearing at the end? Where the hell did that come from? Nothing in the Joe/Nash disagreement that smelt of requiring Sting to solve it all - Random alert! Show also lacked wrestling, another downer.
After an excellent week of booking by the WWE - it may have made this show look and feel worse than it was, but I still wasn't impressed at all.

TNA continues the run of the best stuff I've seen on wrestling tv for maybe 6-7 years. (though i've only been following tna for the last 2)

actually, imo the rough cut segments kind of help build the character of the wrestler, in this case matt morgan. to me, morgan is just another big guy and because of his lack of tv time, especially in recent weeks, he hasn't been able to develop and get over with fans. because of everything else that's been going on and instead of being completely forgotten, the rough cut segments help to keep interest in him, as little as it may be. besides, the hint of reality and finding out the backgrounds of wrestlers is kind of interesting and makes pro wrestling seem that much more real.

Yeah, the rough cut segments have actualy showed me more about the Matt Morgan character background, I think it's cool because he's not going to be this gimmicky giant, he's going to be himself, like a young diesel, Nash was a 7' bad ass and Morgan could be similar.
