Also, correct me if I'm wrong but a steel cage match is no DQ, correct? If so, why the fuck is the ref calling for a rope break? Furthermore, if this is a MMA fight, again, why is the ref calling for rope breaks? Sorry but that just looked goofy. Next, Joe's selling was a bit spotty following the figure-four. I could understand some limited selling had the submission been locked in for like 30 seconds but it was locked in for roughly 2 mins.

Negatives aside though, the match wasn't too bad. The counters near the end of the match were fun and the crowd was pretty hot which helped. Also, Joe winning was a good but long overdue moment. Overall as I stated, I felt the match fell short of the hype it was given and could've been a lot better. Personally, MMA should stay in MMA just like wrestling should stay in wrestling. ***1/2
Actually, they never have clarified if every match is NO DQ inside the cage, but I don't think that it's the case.

Also, they never actually said this was an "MMA Fight". There was just aspects of it in the beginning of the match, but I didn't think it was that different from some of their other matches.

I agree that it hit a lull in certain parts but watching it live was pretty incredible, with that said I wouldn't go any lower than 4* and probably more like ****1/2 IMO.

It was just so realistic and that's something you just don't see very often these days.

The Angle/Joe match should have ***3/4-**** at the least. I enjoyed it. Started off slow because the MMA thing, which was new to me but started digging it as the match progressed.

I see Joe/Steiner at Sacrifice, KOTM at Slammiversary with Joe retaining, and Joe/Abyss returning to feud untill BFG where Abyss wins the TNA World title for the 2nd time.

Abyss is coming back as a face, so unless Joe turns heel I dont see it happening.

This was the best TNA ppv they have done this year and give it a 7 out of 10. The 2 main event matches were really good and made it a worth seeing PPV.

Lockdown was pretty good ppv, the duel main event delivered big time but everything else kinda disappointed.

XScape Match: fun match as always with the X division guys. Curryman spot was sweet. ***

Queen Of The Cage: Stupid gimmick but as it turned out it didn't last very long, the actual match wasn't too bad but I think love and Roxxi could've done better. It seemed like an Impact match tbh **

BJ James vs. Kip James: I'll give tna credit for at least TRYING to make this interesting but in reality who gives a fuck about these 2 turds. Match sucked plain and simple. *

Cuffed In The Cage:Why is it every time one of these Clusterfuck matches happen LaX and MCmg are alway eliminated early and Reign/Rellik make it till the end. Fucking ridiculous...Alright match with some good spots. Super Eric winning was predictable. ***1/4

Gail Kim & ODB vs. Kong & Saeed: Really liked this match. Saed was impressive as hell, I liked how they made her viscous. Surprised Kim ODB picked up the win. ***1/4

Booker T & Sharmell vs. Robert Roode & Payton Banks: It was pretty good in the beginning as they kept the girls on the outside. Sharmell coming in with a quick roll up ruined the match for me really. **3/4

Lethal Lockdown: Really fun match, Morgan and Sting taking a backseat didn't sit too well with me. But it was an exciting match to say the least. The ladder spot with Aj/Cage was so fucking awesome I was just so hoping the cage didn't cave in. ****

Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe: Ah yes, this will probably be one of the most contested matches. You will either love it or hate it. I loved it. I was on the edge on my seat the entire time and when Joe finally fulfilled his dream, I fucking marked out. It was such a great moment. One of the most if not the most realistic wrestling matches I've ever seen in my life. ****1/2

I thought it was understood that a cage match was no DQ. I mean after all they are inside a cage which can be used as a weapon. Honestly, I can't recall another time when I saw rope breaks in a cage match.

Also, they may have not billed it as a "MMA fight" but you had to be pretty stupid not to expect just that. From Joe's training vignettes, to bringing in Frank Trigg, and to Angle's ring attire. You kind of had to expect a "MMA fight" even though it wasn't announced as one.

However, with that said, the match did get very good once they stopped the goofy MMA stuff which just furthered my disappointment with the match because had they just gone out there and did what they did in the second half of the match it would've certainly been great.

It was a spectacle and something different but I really don't think it worked.

I'm not surprised that people are bashing the MMA stuff. Although I thought it added some realism to the match which is what all wrestling fans should want to see. Grappling and submissions are nothing new to wrestling so that didn't bother me at all. I liked that the match had no spots, no flips, no weapons, it was just an in your face ground and pound battle between 2 of the best mat workers in the company. My only dissapointment was the lack blood as that could have enhanced the match even more. But I really have give TNA credit on this one, they delivered a true alternative to sports entertainment and it was an impressive showing.

I see what your saying about the No DQ thing, but usually it's not even an issue since most matches inside the cage aren't wrestled the way the Joe/Angle match was wrestled.

Also I definitely can see how the match wasn't for everybody, their definitely could have been more action. But the storytelling, realism, and build was better than any match I can think of in recent memory.

It's a case of different strokes for sure.

Default Re: Lockdown Discussion Thread

OK a few days late but whatever. I liked Lockdown...for the most part but there was one match that left me scratching my head and that was the Handcuffed to the Cage match, for some terrible terrible booking.

First you have your number one contender (who we all know won't win, so they better have some good matches for Sacrifice for me to order it, like Cage/Tomko and Angle/Styles), Scott Steiner being handcuffed to the cage around two minutes into the match. Yeah that makes him look like a legit contender, even if 4 guys were beating him down, he could have at least put up a fight, instead he's out just like that.

Next we have the continuous burying of MCMG, who OH MY GOD didn't want to blade? Big deal, so you have to bury your second hottest tag team that quickly? The guys are extremely over with the crowds and us fans sitting at home and to see them cuffed that quickly makes me question TNA, but not as much as some of the other things I seen in this match.

LAX, the number one contenders for the tag titles, ok, easy decision here, if you're not going to have the heavyweight number one contender win then it's obvious these guys are going to win...right? You would think but instead the three teams that you would expect to win (even though I knew this match was designed for SE to get over) are gone 10 minutes into the match. Great, great booking.

All in all this match left me scratching my head, if you wanted Super Eric to get over so much why not have LAX team with Kaz and him to take on Rellik and Black Reign and the Monsters of Rock? And then have MCMG against the Steiner and Petey on the preview show? And to make Steiner look like he has a shot at beating Joe, give him a promo talking about the match on the Lockdown PPV. Simple really, but TNA doesn't look for the easy answer time and time again they show that the hard way is the way they want to go.
