Turning Point 2005 - X-Division Championship; AJ Styles (c) vs Samoa Joe

This is without a doubt one of the greatest matches in TNA history. Their Sacrifice match wasnt as good as this one. Both have good chemistry together. Its one of those David/Golliath matches.
Joe hits a series of hard kicks on AJ. AJ cant even breath. Very brutal. AJ got his ass kicked in most of the match but he still fought to defend his title. I marked out when AJ did the fosbury flop on Joe (That move is phenomenal.). I also couldnt believe AJ powerbombed Joe. That really shows how strong he is. There was a sick clothsline by Joe that turned AJ inside out. Ouch!. Joe was very brutal in most of the match, I could say he wanted to murder AJ.

AJ Styles taps out after the Coquina Clutch.

This match is a classic.

AJ passed out. He didn't tap. The match is still hard to watch because I'm a big AJ mark, and getting his ass kicked in brutal fashion is tough to watch. But it was a great match, nonetheless.

Enjoyed both. Was there any other matches worth a watch?

Hi! Now I've been trying to get into TNA recently and wanted to get some TNA PPV DVD's. I wanted a few from 04/05 and a couple from 07/08. So some from when they were more national and some recent influx of WWE superstars (Christian, Booker T, Kurt Angle, Tomko, etc.) Could anyone recommend any good choices?

I might be in a minority here, but I think Joe vs. AJ from Turning Point is probably the greatest X Division title match of all time, even better than the Unbreakable Triple Threat. It is a very brutal match mixed in with some great athleticism. It was great.

From 2004:

They only had two PPVs in 2004. Victory Road had a great atmosphere since it was TNA's first PPV and there are some good matches on there. So I would suggest that one just because it was the first.

Turning Point 2004 was awesome, one of their best.

2005:

Final Resolution
Lockdown
No Surrender (very underrated show)
Bound for Glory
Turning Point

2006:

Against All Odds
Lockdown
Sacrifice
Slammiversary
Bound for Glory
Genesis

2007:

Sacrifice
Slammiversary
Victory Road (another very underrated show)
No Surrender
Bound for Glory

2008:

Lockdown
Slammiversary

Now there are a few PPVs that have one or two really great matches that are definately worth picking up. For example, Unbreakable 2005 has the amazing AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe match, and Final Resolution 2006 has Sting's return to TNA.

The only PPVs that I would say avoid like the plague are Destination X 2005, Victory Road 2006, and Against All Odds 2007. Everything else is at least decent.

Great choices there G, the only ones I would add in are Sacrifice 05, Genesis 05, Turning Point 06, Genesis 07, and AAO 08.

Pretty much every 05 PPV is great besides Destination X and Hard Justice.

One a somewhat related note, I think they need to change the name of the Hard Justice PPV. It just sounds kinda campy IMO and it could stand a replacement.

Quite surprised for the lack of love on TNA Final Resolution this year with no mention of it maybe being one of the better TNA PPV's currently. I would check that out as well for 2008.

I like that a lot more overall then what both Lockdown and Against All Odds had to offer.

Actually I think Hard Justice kind of sounds like the name a porno or something.

Don't know why they got rid of Unbreakable. That was a cool name for a PPV.

Ya know. Final Resolution this year was pretty good. FR tends to be a good show in general. But this years show had Angle vs. Christian, Joe/Nash vs. AJ/Tomko, Team 3D vs. X Division Ultimate X Match, Judas vs. Abyss, & Kong vs. Gail No DQ. That show was damn good. Sorry I forgot about it.
