I'm much of the same way. I'll always prefer story over style. To paraphrase a quote: style over substance. See what I did there? It's why Bully vs Aries was my easy pick for TNA MOTY. Oh, and Jericho vs Eddie is legendary. I literally watched it 3 times in a row after I bought the Jericho set.

Remember when I said I was gonna watch Unbreakable about 2 months ago? I finished it tonight/this morning. We're prompt dudes.

I prefer the Turning Point 09 match from a workrate perspective. Only issue I have with the match is that due to the lame build, I never felt Daniels or Joe would win but when looking at just the work in the match, I prefer that one. I know most will more than likely disagree with me about that.

As for Aries not winning the belt when he did, I feel like had they gone with Storm winning the belt at Lockdown and Aries perhaps winning the BFG series instead could have made up for things, but then Roode gets put in an even worse-off position and they couldn't have done what they did with Hardy. Really out of the four (Aries/Roode/Hardy/Storm), one was going to get screwed and while I love Storm a lot, they made the right call in terms of who to book into a corner.

I'm on board with enjoying the Turning Point '09 match more. I LOVE the match at Against All Odds '06 so much. It might be my personal favorite. Shaved down 5 minutes and still killed it like those 3 can do. Daniels dies like twice in it. He lands on top of his head on one spots Awesome.

I remember he talked about the lariat/german sequence on the straight shootin' with AJ if I am correct. Also on that they really talked about how the second half of the Unbreakable match got messed up (not sure if that was mentioned in the last couple pages.)

The TP 09 match just was so much fun. Had a ton of great sequences, many of which were variations of the Unbreakable match that were in some ways more impressive (the monkey flip into hurricanrana spot being countered into a powerbomb in particular always blew my mind.) Plus, it was probably AJ's best performance out of the last few years. Everything he did just looked flawless and it really had me believing at the time that he could be called the best wrestler in the world.

I am still beyond saddened that he and Nigel never got to happen, whether on the indies or on PPV. They had that one 5 minute match on Impact, but I don't really count it. Seriously would have gone absolutely wild for that match on PPV if it ever were to have gotten booked. Up there with the top AJ matches that I want to see that have never happened (him and Generico being at the top.)

Another very silly reason to not like the Unbreakable match is that because AJ got injured in it, it kept the one time that AJ vs. Tyler Black actually got booked from happening at TPI 05.

I mentioned the Daniels discussion about the second half of the match in the thread I made about the topic. I swear I never noticed it until Daniels pointed it out.

It was Styles best match during his last Championship run too. If not his best match during any of his reigns as World Champion. They've done that match 3 times on PPV and each time, regardless of the flaws the first had, they were very different matches. The call back you made mention of was superb. It fit the billing of the match being on par with how praised the Unbreakable contest is. The hype surrounding it completely negated the existence of the AAO match, but it didn't matter much when when all 3 took pieces of the original 3 way and changed them up to enhance the match at Turning Point. It's wonderful work.

I remember the Styles vs Nigel match vividly. It ended after only 4:49. Boo. I do believe that entire edition of Impact was one of the most outlandish and poorly booked of the year. Go figure. Styles vs Generico. Oh yeah. I would have loved to see that too. Shame PWG never got around to booking it.

That's true. Although, a past his prime Chavo vs a never had a prime Morgan is the stuff nightmares are made out of. Hardy vs Angle matches...ok, maybe we have a winner there. Only b/c of No Surrender. Their matches this year were nothing special & over the top, but No Surrender was on another plane of wrestlecrap.
I would prefer Roode/Aries for the WHc, and getting Hardy the he'll out of that picture, and maybe head to the X-Div where he can bring a name there, but every main event with him is so dumb, he's like the Cena of TNA but worse at wrestling.

Makes zero sense to think Hardy in the X-Division would work. He is the Cena of TNA - He brings in fans and draws a reaction. Knows how to work in a big time match. Obviously by your username your personal bias is effecting what you see as the truth.

Hardy does not know how to work a big time match. Selling your opponent's moves a bit above average for 15 minutes, and then doing his Twist of Fate/Swanton at the last second is not working a big match, the fans like him because of his spots, they got him over in WWE and his name got him over in TNA. Being over does not make somebody a good worker.

Of course it doesn't. Good thing Hardy knows how to work a match and is doing some great babyface work right now.

Once again, taking what you say with a grain of salt due to your personal bias. Not expecting a poster named "Jeff Hardy Hater" to give Hardy any sort of due.
