Brown vs Joe vs Rhino - HJ 2006. AWESOME brawl. 4 star worthy.

Joe was on a roll in 06. had great matches with various opponents.

Watched it yesterday. ****.

Monty Brown left on the highest note possible. Rhino continued to show he can rule when given the ball. Joe speaks for himself. The road to the main event scene was plenty evident there. Great match.

Here's one, what's the best year you can remember a guy having in TNA? Aries' 2012 must definitely be up there, along with AJ in 05 and Joe at some point. Probably some gems from the weekly ppv days too I'm forgetting.

I might have heard people praise Kurt's 08 somewhere too but I'm hazy on that whole stretch. Don't think I've ever actually seen Kurt/Joe from Lockdown. Or if I have it was a longgggg time ago

AJ's 2005 set the standards too far for anyone in TNA. Aries, however, is dangerously close, and if his FR match delivers (and it will), then we have something to discuss about.

Btw, I have both Styles/Daniels Ironmans at *****, even after numerous re-watches. Yeah, that's how you do a fucking Ironman, and that's how you make simple moves look like million bucks. A perfect chemistry. Can't wait 'till their Sunday blow-off. Shame it's not a cage match, but whatever. Hopefully Hulkster pulls something off.

Need to rewatch those Iron Man matches, but I loved both on last watch. I'd put... the first (I think) at ****1/2 and the second at ****3/4. Its just a shame that no matter how good their matches have been in the past, I really don't want to see any more matches from them .

You pretty much summed up the best ones. You have to put Daniels from 05 in there too since he was also in the middle of all that great work and had quality singles matches with the two. Not to mention his run as X-Division Champion. I liked his matches with Sabin that year too.

I put over Kurt's '08. Looking back it isn't filled with as many **** bouts like I remembered. It's still good for him. He excelled that year. The rest floundered. That's my least favorite year in TNA history.

I literally JUST watched the first Ironman right now. ***1/2

Second one is much better. Actually hits **** territory. Plus it didn't have the uber predictable finish that the first had. They are quality matches in the aspect of making 30 minutes fly on by.

AJ in 2005. He had 4 star match with X-PAC. And i only tune to the Spike to watch him when they went national.

AJ vs Joe at TP is my fav match in TNA. They always blame X-Division for not telling any stories, but this match had an hell of story of plucky underdog vs monster.

Then the unbreakable 3-way obviously, the Ultimate X at final resolution, The Lockdown greatness with Abyss.

06 Joe, 08 Angle are close, but if you've seen their 1 match, probably you've seen them all. AJ adapts well to opponents and just a joy to watch him in ring.

Even the last impact for example. He played the role of unfocused ex-champ role so well. It's one thing to be good in ring, but to look messy, botch spots intentionally and still to have great matches is just another thing.

Sticking Styles & Waltman in the ring together should have only equaled that high level of a match. Both are great.

No Surrender 2005 as a whole =

Come to terms in naming that my favorite TNA PPV. Bound For Glory 2005 & 2006 aren't far behind.

BFG 06 was awesome. one of few tna ppvs i bought.

It had almost everything you can ask for a big ppv. culmination of feuds (Sting/JJ, AJ & Daniels/LAX, Christian/Rhino), planting the seeds for next feuds (Angle/Joe, AMW/LAX). Great title matches (X and Tag), a fun opener, couple of hardcore bouts, technical match, passable main event with good crowd.

the very next ppv had fresh matchups. almost hard to believe Russo was in charge at that time (if you can exclude the fight for your right thing).
